I've grown too impatient to wait even longer for another color of card. Man the 1st can't come fast enough.

Yeah you're right on that !!! It is frustrating that the EVGA cards are so late compared to the other aftermarket ones !

surfseattle One very interesting thing about the gamers nexus review is that the open holes on the fan plate appear to be just "marketing".
In their configuration, yes. For those of us who point a 140mm fan right at the card, it's going to be great. More air reaching the heatsinks will lower temps. That said, the 1080 FTW2 ICX was the most gorgeous card I've ever owned. I wish they stuck with it. Super rugged.

Well, Steve did imply that there could be a benefit if another fan was pointed directly at it. I hope you're right cause I use a coolermaster HAF XB EVO case and when I overclock to the limit I remove the metal side panel and use a super-quiet table fan that blows a load of air into the case. And since the GPU sits vertically the external fan is blowing air directly into the card. So.... we'll see !! vulgar language removed

It's a rare thing these days to find a case with a side fan blowing on the GPU and probably even more rare for someone to jerryrig a fan inside to blow on the cards. Sure it would be interesting to test but they have to test with what most people are going to be using to get numbers that are meaningful to the general public.

All that is currently up, is a breakdown of the cooler from the PCB on GamersNexus, review pending as they finish testing over the weekend and post full review.

Congrats on the good reviews! I'm hoping to be a proud owner of an FTW3 at some point. Or a K|NGP|N version if one comes out. I hope one comes out soon. I won't be able to restrain myself from buying a 1080 TI for much longer!! ;)

In Win 303 case, if you have fans In the the bottom like my Mods Rig, it would be a perfect air cooled case for these cards

Chip lotto, for starters. It's also already overclocked from the FE specs, pushing too high and it'll just cause stability issues.
