Hello,

My PC started to crash a lot recently. My system is running 1080 Ti FTW3 SLi. It is always crashing while playing GTA Online and always crashing doing benchmarks / stress tests with Futuremark, Heaven benchmarks. So I removed both cards and installed only the suspected card. It was crashing with factory overclock. It is only working when I enable debug mode from Nvidia Control Panel.

I tried both Primary and slave BIOS with default or OC settings. No matter what I tried it kept on crashing with factory OC. Only debug mode makes it working fine and passing Futuremark firestrike stress test.

DDU, and recent drivers didn't help in resolving the issue.

The second card is working perfectly fine with or without OC and never crashes.

I was going to try Fresh OS install but since the second card is working fine, I eliminated this step.

Can we don't any more troubleshooting steps like flashing BIOS ?

I know this will eventually end up being RMA'd . It is very inconvenient for me to send the card back to RMA Department and very costly as well. I've done it before several times but now the shipping charges are insanely expensive. I know the card is now defective and should be RMA'd but I am hoping that someone had a similar issue before and managed to fix it with a miracle or something ...

The card is still fairly new. 4+ months old ... for a 800$ card , I didn't expect it to die this early ...

As far as it reads to me, you basically tried already everything and especially with nvidia debug mode, seems to be the clear indicator that you will most likely end up having to RMA the card. :/ Sadly you can always be unlucky with a card

Thanks. I think I don't have any other choice but to pay for the ridiculous shipping charges.

I had an OC of 20+ / 100+ and increased the power target to 127% and temp to 90, and increased voltage to max. and it was working fine from day one but went back to default clocks with voltage at max when I started seeing artifacts while playing FF XV . I am scared now of doing the same thing with the other card. but why shouldn't I ? it's FTW3 ! should be able to take the beating without any problems.

Have you installed the 6.2.4 version of Precision XOC ? In this case uninstall it, reboot and reinstall 6.4.3 it could solve you problem as the last version if full of bugs.

lucasfrance, what bugs did you observe in the latest version of Precision XOC?

I have 6.2.3 installed before installing 6.2.4 It was crashing with or without XOC being installed regardless the versions.

Also I noticed on the working card, that the clock is at 1999 MHZ ? Currently the second card is running with OC BIOS , power target set to 127% and temp to 90. It usually used to clock to 1940's and go lower when temps increase , but now without any OC it goes up to 1999 MHZ ? Is this related to the new drivers 391.95 ?

I noticed this on the other card as well. Without any OC or voltage increase, the clocks were at OC clocks. Only completing Firestrike stress test with debug mode on.  However it is not crashing at all on the second card.

I have also similar issues with my 1080Ti FTW3 card. I have just noticed this since 3 months ago when I started playing triple A games such as The Witcher, The Division and the last one: Final Fantasy XV. The game randomly crashes without any symptoms the temperarture is always under 70C. I have tried all suggested or possible solutions without luck:
    - Tried both Master and Slave BIOS
    - Underclocking the card
    - Remove driver using DDU
    - Install latest driver
    - etc.

I purchase the card back in September last year, and previously I mostly only played comp online gaming such as: CS GO, Diablo 3, etc and I haven't had any issues. Any other option I can have without RMA-ing the card? Unfortunately I need the PC for work as well and I don't have spare card at the moment.

    Thank you.

I am afraid the only option is to RMA the card. However you can try enabling debug mode from Nvidia control panel. Check Sajin's post:

    https://forums.evga.com/Basic-troubleshooting-steps-Windows-clean-boot-clean-driver-install-debug-mode-etc-m2504606.aspx

This stopped my card from crashing but I only enabled debug mode to conclude that there's a problem with my card. I already removed the suspected card and preparing to ship it to EVGA RMA Department. Luckily for me I have another working 1080 Ti FTW3.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, for my card, debug mode doesn't even solve issue. It still crashed under debug mode. Anyone can point out where or how to initiate RMA process? Thanks.

Yes. Don't worry. You are in good hands. EVGA Support is world class. Never had a single issue with RMA. I RMA'd several cards before and had 0 issues with the RMA process or replacements.

Hello. So I got the RMA and it was a bust  Not sure what was the problem with it , but it was like half of the performance on my other working card and also whenever I change settings from XOC, the system hangs for about 30 seconds. no difference from Master or OC BIOS. Flashing BIOS didn't help either. I tested the replacement card alone without SLI to rule out any possibilities.

Another replacement is on its way. I hope this time it will be a working card. Let's see how it goes this time.

Wow I thought I was unlucky getting 4 cards in a row with issues, guess it’s actually quite common. Sounds exactly the same as my situation with their cards. Going onto card #5 now, might end up waiting for the 2080 to release cause I’ve had nothing but a horrible experience with evga this gen.

And yes tried each card in a different pc including a friends. Same issue. Think evga needs to invest in a better testing facility. I’m pretty sure they just slap it on an open test bench and run Furmark for 30 minutes. Which might’ve been ok with last generation cards, but gpu boost 3.0 is a different ball game and I don’t think they were ready for it.
Perhaps they should default to superposition 4K optimized.
