So I've recently been having a problem with my EVGA 1080Ti FE card giving a weird graphical glitch after post during Windows 10 loading screen. There's a multicolored glitchy band that covers about an inch width horizontal line across the top of the screen from side to side of the screen. After the glitched Windows loading screen the monitor goes dark but Windows still loads.

I can correct the issue by unplugging and replugging the displayport cable in the gpu and the screen returns to normal with the Windows login screen. I've tried different displayport ports on the gpu and had no change. The issue only seems to appear after an extended period of the pc being shut down and turning back on, and doesn't happen every time. I'm using a BenQ XL2420G Gsync monitor and have never seen this in the couple years I've owned it.

Is anyone else having this issue with their 1080Ti? I've attached the closest picture I can find on Google to the glitch I see (note it's a mac and not pc/win and no Windows logo is present in my error).

Using a certified DisplayPort cable can usually avoid issues.

I use the Accell DP cable - 10 ft, they are available on Amazon and other sites

Monitor does not turn on at POST, when waking from Sleep or Standby, or the monitor randomly turns on and off when using a Displayport connection.

This can be resolved by either doing a factory reset of the display via the display's settings, or physically unplugging the monitor's power for a minute then plugging it back in. Upon startup the system should boot and not lose signal.

do you know if that cable has a 20th pin? I have heard vesa certification calls for no 20 pin as that pushes 3.3v power back in to the gpu. If they only have 19 I will probably pick one up

Did this just start? I started getting this after upgrading to the windows 10 creators update and the last two drivers still give me the color band. current driver is the hot fix 381.78 before the hot fix it took about 3 min to boot with the 381.65 drivers. I’m running a 1080 FTW 08G-P4-6286-KR

Save headaches and roll back to anniversary.  Its real easy and only takes 3-10 minutes depending on your PC.  I did it 2 days ago after dealing with Creators + 1080ti driver issues crashing my games for a week and all my issues are gone. The update needs some maturing for gaming.

I am currently running 378.92 had some problems on 381.65 so I rolled back to 378.92 and have been fine. I did have to do a clean install of creators update to fix some of its weirdness that was going on when it just upgraded

So this appears to be a Windows update/Nvidia driver clash? I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue I really don't want to have to RMA my beautiful new waterblocked card!

For anyone reading this thread attempting the above solutions I tried the monitor reset/unplug (2) with no luck.
I also received a new Displayport 1.3 cable today to swap out my 1.2 cable and on the first cold boot I had the same error - again fixable by unplug/replug at the black windows login screen.

Has anyone had luck with rolling back their Windows or any other way? I unfortunately can't roll back due to my Windows being freshly installed after the Creator update.

Yeah I wanted to give it some time to keep testing but it looks like that resolved the issue. Thanks!
