I've done that. No positive result.

Check the nvidia control panel and make sure antialiasing - mode is set to application controlled.

So, is this a bios issue? Will evga update the bios on ftw3 to get 127% on slave bios?

Yes, that is set to application controlled.

In your pic it shows you're currently running furmark at 1280x720 (X8 MSAA). It needs to read 1280x720 (0X MSAA).

There are only a few places to make changes to the antialiasing setting.

#1 In furmark itself.
#2 Two places inside the nvidia control panel.

If everything is set like above, and furmark is still running at x8 msaa when running the test you should do #2 listed here to fix the issue.

Another thing I forgot to add...

When running furmark make sure you have vertical sync set to off inside the nvidia control panel too.

Yes, all is set properly. I rebooted my PC and got the following results:

Clocks are lower, powerlimit tops at 118%

There you go. See it limits out at 117-118%.

Yeah, when will EVGA fix the 117% limit? It never goes higher than that, ever, even at Superposition as shown ealier in this thread. You concluded that it's a vbios problem.

@Sajin
thanks for your testing.

I tried to flash XOC BIOS (86.02.39.00.58) instead of my FTW3 Slave BIOS.

I lost control of Power Target and Temp Target but now the clocks won't even flinch and stay at whatever value I set them to.

The card doesn't power throttle at all now and it can well above 1.093V. Before it was power throttling when barely reaching 1.062V.

My previous max core OC was +38MHz up to 1.050V now I can go +75MHz up to 1.093V (+100MHz crashes occasionally at 1.125V but I guess that's mainly the limit of the air cooler).

The main question now.
Has the performance improved?

I tried Superposition 4k Optimized, Firestrike Ultimate, and Time Spy.
Graphics score went up consistently in all of those benchmarks by about 400 points in Superposition, 200 points in FSU and 100 points in TS.
That is not a huge improvement in terms of score but the minimum FPS went up by about 5FPS and in some cases almost 10FPS.

All things said... the improvements are not as big as they should be considering the clocks are now higher and stable (not moving at all even when core temperature goes to 70*C).
I think that this means that the reported clocks are not always the 3D clocks and that the card still lowers its 3D clocks according to temperature but keeps reporting its 2D clocks instead. The best way to find out would be if I could throw water block on my card but I don't think if I want to spend that extra money for minor performance improvements.

This also goes along with the reports from some people that flashed XOC BIOS on their FTW3 claiming that they actually lost a bit of performance (if they have not kept the temperature in check).
The best way to find out would be if I could throw water block on my card but I don't think if I want to spend that extra money for minor performance improvements.

I think that I will stay with the XOC BIOS for now and observe if I get any benefits for daily usage of the card and then report back once again if I find some issues or new things.

BTW:
I also tried the Extreme Watercooling OC VBIOS but then the card doesn't boot at all so for anyone trying it on the FTW3 ICX Gaming, do not bother.

Which bios did/do you use for 1.125v? I would like to flash my bios to yours, trying to get a higher overclock on my graphicscard.

o.O My card didn't like the XOC bios. There was no way to control power or voltage, even with MSI Afterburner. Good thing I backed up the old slave vbios beforehand....

That's how it is supposed to be.
You loose Temp Target and Power Target control and you control voltage only via the curve otherwise it will go as high as the curve goes.

With that XOC bios, i managed to achieve a solid 2151 core and an unlucky 5953 on the memory only. My memory is pretty bad at overclocking, :c
My 4K bench score was a rock solid 10512 :) https://benchmark.unigine...e844a0a490cb8190ef3b8e

Edito: 2164 stable right now at a better score 10544 :) https://benchmark.unigine...5a47348d7de0559d1287bf

Very nice!
And you got 60FPS minimums, 5FPS higher than me (I got 10300 score).
But I can go only 2075MHz max on the core, I can manage 6300MHz VRAM though (4770k 4.4GHz).

I really am disappointed with my memory overclock. But i still prefer a higher core clock. I hope i can squeeze even more out of it, since both tests were very solid.

Re: 1080 TI FTW3 watercooled Slave BIOS doesn't go over 117% 2017/09/27 07:46:53 (permalink)
Will we see VBios update that fixes the issue or this is this the way it is?

Thanks

Don't know if EVGA will release an official vbios to resolve the issue. Best solution at this time would be to run the XOC VBIOS.

Just a note, be careful with the XOC bios if are using an air cooled card and not carefully setting the voltage-frequency curve. You can easily have the card run to 1.200V which gets very hot very fast.

Less of a risk on water but double check the max voltages and power draw that your cards hit. You probably don't want to run the card at 1.200V 24/7 even if the temps stay in check.

What's the point of slave Bios then if it has the same power target as master?
Was it even reproduced by EVGA, being looked into?

Thanks

Master & Slave are different. Master is 117% while the slave is 127%. Problem is the slave won't go past 117-118% even when set to 127%.

EVGA_JacobF said he wasn't able to reproduce the issue on post #67. I was able to reproduce the issue using my 1080 ti kingpin, see post #85 for me details.

Thanks Sajin. I understand that, and saw the post from Jacob, thus my ask if they still have problem reproducing it.
Something must be different, if it works for Jacob. Is it the same HW and BIOS revision?

This is mine.

Still nothing? I find it hard to believe that this many owners are having an issue and EVGA can't reproduce it?

I contacted EVGA support but I would have better luck asking someone on the street.

Chiming in as well. Do we need to contact support individually?
