I built a new PC 2 months ago and everything was working great then it froze yesterday while I was playing Subnautica. After restarting the game froze again almost immediately on the main menu. Now all games are freezing. Some freeze on the main menu and others will load, I can watch movie scenes but then they will freeze when gameplay starts. When this happens I can usually force close game but sometimes I have to force shutdown PC.
Time Spy freezes but Furmark & Cinebench run fine. I also ran Furmark and Intelburn same time no problem. My temps seem fine. I've tried uninstalling, updating, rolling back drivers and also reinstalling Windows. I tried putting GPU in a different slot and using different power cables.
Lowering the core clock & mem clock in afterburner and reducing my refresh rate from 144 to 60 seemed to help a little bit. This lets me actually play games at least for a few minutes before freezing. Not sure what this means or what I should test. Any suggestions?

I would suggest at least get GPU-Z and watch what the GPU temps are doing Better yet would be to get Hardwareinfo64 and check the temps of both the GPU and CPU as it sounds like something is getting hot Not sure why I didn't see it before - you said your temps were fine - but was that for the gpu or both gpu / cpu? Any over clocks on the CPU?

I'm assuming you have the latest drivers for the video card and bios for the MB? Also maybe take a close look at the video card itself, does it show any signs of damage/ odor? If you have access to a spare video card, plug it in and see if you still have crashing issues...

I just ran Furmark (2560x1440) 8x MSAA and Intelburn again. GPU at 75 and CPU around 60. These are same temps I had before freezing started. I had my CPU OC'd but once the freezing started I set everything back to default and that didn't help. I never OC'd the GPU. I updated bios for MB but didn't help. The GPU looks OK and doesn't smell weird. Unfortunately, I don't have access to another GPU or another PC to try putting my card into. Is it weird that Furmark, Cinebench and Intelburn run fine but Time Spy and games are freezing? Something I didn't mention earlier was my GPU has coil whine which is pretty bad in some games like PUBG (on main menu only) and Civ 5 (zooming in and out of map). This usually doesn't bother me cause I game with headphones. I wasn't sure if this could be part of the problem.

How far are you lowering the core & memory clock in afterburner? How fast are you running your system memory (ram) at? Coil whine isn't part of your problem.

I originally had XMP enabled (2x8 GB 3000MHz). After freezing started I set everything back to stock with XMP disabled but that didn't help so I enabled XMP again. Normally, Subnautica would freeze within seconds once the main menu loaded. I started by lowering core & mem clock by a little over 100 each. I also lowered my refresh rate from 144 to 60. With these setting I can have Subnautica main menu up for about 3-5 minutes before freezing. It seems like the more I lower the core & mem clock the longer the game will last before freezing. I lowered the settings to the max (-400 core, -502 mem) and I was able to load my Subnautica save game and I actually played for about 10 minutes with no freezing. GTA 5 benchmark also completed, but Time Spy froze after a couple minutes. I also get this warning in the Event Viewer, "Event 4101 Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

I have 12, but Subnautica and I think most games I play run in 11. I also just tried Rocket League which runs in 9 and also froze. Sajin Do you experience the same issues when running the other vbios on the card?
I haven't tried this yet. How do I do this, or time to call tech support?

Shut off your computer & flip the psu switch to off, or unplug the computer from the wall, then make sure the power is completely drained by pressing and holding the power on button for 30 seconds. Open case and look for the vbios selector switch on the card, the switch is right to the left of the power connectors on the card. Simply switch it to the other position to load the other vbios.

Flipped switch to OC but still freezing.

Based on what you have said I'd say it's time for you to rma the card.

Damn. I was starting to search for information does someone have similar issues that I do. I have Part Number: 11G-P4-6696-KR Part Desc: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 GAMING Purchase Date: 06/08/2017 and haven't have problems before. The card is liquid cooled and water temperature stays under 30 always (3x182 Air Penetrators on 540 rad). Other rig is 64GB DDR3, P9X79WS. 3970X @ 4.2GHz CPU and memory I think is fine, because it can handle prime95 blend for 24 hours on row. Also happens when on stok... Also strange is that, that the "games or videos" are running behind and only the image freezes for 1-4sec. That is proven last time that happened I was playing CS GO and immediately after it freezed i turned 180 and started jumping on a direction and after it recovered "I was there" so the CPU must have been running just fine? Actually everything else was just fine. I have two displays connected both supports G-Sync and I have tried separately and usually I'm using anyway only one display. P258Q for CS GO and P349Q for everything else. Problem is occuring with both displays. It appears on windows, On programs, on Firefox especially on video playback and on games. Have tried clean install of nvidia drivers, All fans on MAX (AP182 ~1800rpm + one eloop 1200rpm) Could this windows update have caused this because this is so old CPU? Somehow I like to pinpoint GPU problem - but just do not understand what happens on that time? Shouldn't I loos completely the picture if the driver crashes? What should I still trie? Is this anything similar like in this thread have been?
