I havent, although I usually do. Currently I have not had my card thermal throttle. Im usually sitting at 77c MAX running firestrike ultra stress test for over an hour.

Nvidia's new reference cooler design is definitely an improvement/

I always change My TIM on Every GPU I get. Mainly because I have to due to me water cooling and have to change it for the block. I can tell you that the stuff That EK sends with their blocks isn't all that great. I usually put on my Gelid paste. It is usually rated in the top 3-5 of all thermal paste reviews I've read. I get about 3-4 C better temps using it over The EK TIM. Though the stock paste EVGA uses is pretty good from what I've read too. Think EVGA uses Shin-Etsu and it's usually rated up in the top 10 or even top 5. Either way, don't expect anything better than 3-5 C difference no matter how good of paste you use over the Shin-Etsu.

I don't get my card till Wednesday so I won't be able to do any testing till then. I can throw it in my computer with the stock cooler and test temps and then use My Gelid or Artic Silver or a number of any other pastes I have on hand to see if it makes much of a difference before I put my waterblock on. But by then you'll probably have already tried it yourself. I may still do it just for other people to go by. I have at least 6 or 7 different pastes I could try. Be a good guide for people that want to know which is best and if it's even worth it. We'll see come Wednesday. I may get over excited and put the block on right away, lol.

Kinda off topic but if I replace the tim on my 1080 ftw2 icx, would I need to replace all of the thermal pads or may they be re-used again?

This card runs a little hot in an open air test bench, although it does clock really well ( 2100 stable in everything. )

I  tried some Coolabratory Liquid Ultra on the second 1070 FTW I bought. Dropped temps 8-10c. Tried some MX-4 on the first one and didn't see any difference. Using hybrids now though. Going the step-up route for the 1080 ti's. I'll probably wait for the hybrid kit to release and just stick with regular MX-4. If I was staying on air I'd use the Liquid Ultra.

    You can reuse the pads.

I ran 1080 SLI and both temps were dead even when i installed hybrid kits with pre applied paiste. I had to remove one of my hybrid blocks and I used MX4 and temp on GPU was higher than before like 5c on loads even with after applying it multiple times.
I had some AS5 hanging around and that did the trick.

Long story  i would avoid MX for GPU since oyu installing block i would get something that is a sure thing like Grizzly Kryonaut

Is that the default fan profile, I was doing looping some Heaven and it made its way to the 84 C thermal target.

    Tis a joke, right?

Because GPUs aren't lidded to begin with.
