GPU decided it wanted to develop a coil whine over the last 48 hours (the card is roughly 1 week old tomorrow)... what can be done? I grasp the fact that it doesn't effect performance or cause issues... but I spent upwards of $500 on the card and I don't really care for the noise it makes. I use a headset, but I know the sound is there and it REALLY bothers me when things don't work as intended.

    1) Contact the seller and ask for a replacement.
    2) If that fails, contact EVGA and ask for a repacement.
    3) If that fails, give up.

Usually one of the first 2 options works out. But, there is no guarantee that a replacement card will not also whine. Additionally, the whine you hear could be actually originating from the power supply or caused by the power supply or your house's electrical wiring.

edit: with that said... it's only audible when gaming... in fact depending on what I am doing in game also makes it worse, example: look at the ground it increases... it's weird i've never experienced it before.

OP; I have this card as well and it does have coil whine (more or less buzzing for mine). Ive noticed it depends on power target load for me and not frame rate. In fact; with all the gpu's Ive owned, they have all had coil whine/buzz to some varying degree. You can return the card and get another one, but the next card may be worst then the first card.

I have; I have a Dragonfly Red dac xD. Jokes aside; try running the card at stock and cap fps via RTSS or NVIDIA control panel, PSU may also be a factor..I have a Corsair RM 750x. The buzzing Im getting might just be a by-product of the oc I have on the card (2.1ghz)

Does it do this at all fan RPMs? I used the Precision XOC to limit both fans to not go past 50% & have noticed no whine/buzzing from mine, even under benchmarking stress; Never goes over 73C, 2.0GHz & +500MHz memory offset.

+1. Also try putting your power plug into another power socket plug not on the same circuit

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Yeah; I can hear it over my fans, its pretty loud sometimes. Its housed in a Corsair 250D though, the side vent cutouts are pretty large (meshed) and it sits about a foot away from me. Nice OC; I can hit 2125 on mine, but memory craps out past +490.

stock everything on mine :( now that I really think about it, it became noticeable (to me) after the recent driver update.

    Fixes for coil whine...

#1 Put glue on the noisy coils. Only works if coils are exposed. Will void warranty if done.
#2 Run ati tool overnight to burn the card in. Click show 3d view to start ati render test.
#3 Increase/decrease voltage on the card.
#4 Use frame rate limiter software to limit fps in game to reduce whine.
    #5 Try a different psu.
    #6 Try a different motherboard.
    #7 RMA the card.

can also add to that, use a decent UPS with AVR and line conditioning. i Had one card that would do it in a system that was not on my UPS, this card never whined before i moved it to that system, and i noticed it was at time of peak power usage in my area ( the time when people where getting home from work and turning stuff on ) so i connected it to my UPS and it went away, in looking at my UPS power quality logs i could see the issue of spikes and droops but still staying in the "safe" zone. Maybe a better quality PSU would have helped some but now i always use a good UPS on everything i can, not so much for power outage situations but for the line filtering.
