I have a new 1070ti FTW2. I seem to be unable to switch the Bios to "slave". I move the switch but my back fan stays off below 60c. Do I need to take the card out of my pc and put it back in after changing the switch?

Edit: Ive tried restarting. Unplugging. And even reinstalling the card. Please Help

    If Windows10, have you done a Windows RESTART (not just shutdown/poweroff)?  Windows10 by default has a "fast start" feature, which effectively caches the host memory image of the card bios during shutdown, then restores that image during startup.  So with "fast start" enabled, if you shutdown, throw the bios switch, and power up again -- Windows will reload the previous cached bios it saved during shutdown.   Either turn off "fast start" before shutdown, OR after shutdown/switch/power-up, proceed to do a Restart.  Either will ensure the bios (the one selected by the switch) is reloaded directly from the card.

    Shut the system off. Pull the plug from the power supply. Hold down the power button on the pc for 30 secs to drsin all power from the system.

    Then flip the bois switch on the card to slave. Then power the system back up.

    Sometimes you may also need to reinstall pxoc if it don't see the change.

    That process will not make any difference if Windows10 "Fast Startup" is enabled.  With Fast Startup, the bios image loaded into Windows memory is saved to disk with "shutdown" and restored at next power up.  Unplugging and "draining power" won't change what's on disk, or prevent Windows10 from loading it again.   The only thing that will ensure loading the bios direct from the card at next boot is to either (a) Disable Fast Startup before shutting down, or (b) Do a Restart.   (Yes, a "Restart" actually provides a cleaner boot than "Shutdown + Power Off" when Fast Startup is enabled, because Fast Startup causes shutdown to save memory state, and restore that saved state at next boot).

    Im not running it on Windows or I would just put a custom fan curve via PXOC to turn the back fan on permanently.

    Try removing the card and reinserting it in the pci-e slot after flipping.the switch the slave?

    Might be bad switch. Maybe evga could send you the slave bios to flash the master bios to slave.. or help with some software to control the fans outside windows.

    I have 6 of these bad boys so I do not think it is a bad switch or bad bios. After removing the cards and reinstalling with no back fan results, the only thing I can imagine is that the slave bios is either not usable on my OS? or they changed the slave bios fan settings?

    I just want both the fans to spin.. the memory and the power are hot and the gpu is cool.... I wish bought the the 1070ti SC card instead...

    I wouldn't consider temps below 60c to be hot for the power & memory.

    Max temps for power is 125c. Max temps for memory is 95c. You don't really need the fans to be on below 60c.

    If you need the fans to run do the following...

    #1 Run a dual boot setup.
    #2 Boot into windows and setup your fan speeds manually using precision xoc.
    #3 Boot back into your non-windows os. The manual fan settings you setup should stay applied as long as you don't shutdown your system.

    Thanks Sajin for taking the time to help:D

    The main problem is that the card would run cooler overall if both fans were running at say 60% then if the GPU fan is at 100% and the other fan is off.
    My GPU temps are going up to 70+ degrees while the back fan is not even on. (open air not in a case)

    I also have the same issue on my other EVGA 1080ti SC2 that I have in my gaming computer.  I have to manually ramp up the back fan up so the front fan is not at 100% since my temps will look like:  GPU=78c Mem=42c Pwr=42c.

    The Mem and Pwr are cool. But the GPU is hot. But the back fan does not kick on because the Mem/Pwr are still cool.

    Why wont the slave bios work? It should be at the Bios level therefore not effected by the OS?

    EVGA must have set the slave vbios fans settings to not run 24/7 on the ftw2.

    I agree. That is what I am thinking. Can I confirm that anywhere from EVGA? Phone? Rep?
    Because then I wont feel stupid for not being able to get it into Slave mode ahah

    No problem. Evga tech support should be able to confirm over the phone.

    Do the following to confirm it yourself if evga tech support can't confirm it for you...

    #1 Boot into windows.
    #2 Use gpu-z to see what vbios the cards are running on.

    86.04.85.00.72 = master
    86.04.85.01.72 = slave

    EVGA Tech support Daniel was extremely helpful. Ive been told not to worry about my GPU getting to hot as the back fan will kick on way before temperatures get to high.
    Seems that the ICX sensors in the FTW2 that control the card is a bit fancy for a mining rig or that the OS is not liking/over-riding the slave bios back fan settings. Maybe the SC edition is the more miner friendly one.  Also they only need one 8-pin connection instead of two 8-pins.

    My cards get up to 68-70c by the time the back fan spins up. I just want them to run all the time:(

    You don't need them to run all the time though, that is exactly what EVGA is telling you.  They will only run while needed.  If you really want, push the cards extra hard to force them to run?  But that could shorten the life of the cards.  You're stressing out over nothing.  Don't worry.
