buy a cheap xeon 5650 from ebay or aliexpress for less than 40$ at 4Ghz you will get more.

The x56xx CPUs may not work on his board unless it is the Classified3, FTW3 or SLI3
The older Classifieds need the Westmere mod done.

I have a w3680 and its is overclocked to 4.4ghz. It absolutely kicks butt with up to a GTX 1080 in my testing.

4.4 on air ?
I ran a 980x at 4.2 Ghz on a 120mm AIO for quite a awhile. So, it's entirely doable with a decent cooler.

My chip is cooled on a 240mm AIO. Runs around 61c max under stress test.
