Hey all just got a 1070 SC from Bestbuy (), and noticed that the model number isn't a typical KR. Do I have anything to worry about or should this model follow suite with EVGA's typical lineup? (Not forgetting that 970 fiasco). If so I can go back in a heartbeat and get the 1070 FE, or just order the proper KR edition from newegg. Just looking for some suggestions as to whether I'm okay or if I should drive back ASAP. The EVGA page for the KB edition is missing information compared to the KR edition.

Thanks,
Lookin forward to an EVGA regardless!

Nothing to worry about. KB just shows it is sold by Best Buy is all.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

The -KB part number is just an identifier showing that you purchased it from Best Buy and it still has the standard 3 year warranty. You can read more about the warranty here http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/graphics-cards/

Okay good to know, so there are no differences between the two cards other than a model number (probably for sales tracking)?

Sometimes exclusive cards like the 970 Fallout Edition might have slight differences but for the most part they are the same card

I have a GTX 960SC i bought from amazon, a month or so before the 1060 dropped 04G-P4-3962-KR and I was bummed to see that it was not listed on the EVGA stepup page.

Alright, going to use my remaining week to test it out and hopefully it matches the full performance spectrum.

    Fun Fact:
Best Buy has used this model number difference to refuse to price match with competitors in the past.

I'm not sure if their policies are any different now, but they would only price match with an identical model number...that being a Best Buy-only sku.  I took my business elsewhere.
    Enjoy your 1070 SC.

What does this have to do with the original post?

I think walmart and a perhaps a few other places do it as well.

regardless I have wondered about cards sold as best buy, as some past models I sold at best buy were said to be inferior to the same type of card sold anywhere else. not sure on the details however. but glad to know that the warranty is the same.

I have also experienced this at Best Buy. Many of their products they request to have as a Best Buy only SKU and the vendors comply making it impossible to use their "price match guarantee" or whatever it is called. Such a scam and it's silly that the vendors go along with it too.

I think best buy is the biggest offender but I make sure only to but deeply discounted items without banking on a price match.

That is when I ask for the manager on duty at Best Buy and have him override their garbage SKU after explaining how much money I spend on electronics and how Amazon is available to me 24/7.

What use is knowledge if there is no understanding?~Stobaeus
