Hi after finally getting an evga z77 and setting it up ive been getting instant FF error on the debug LED. The system powers on for a second, shuts off, and powers on again for a few seconds before powering off showing FF than powers on showing FF code only.

I have tested different PSUs as well but i couldnt test the cpu on a different board. Is there a way to fix this or is my board broken? There was no POST or display.

Initially, I had this error show up in a very similar manner on my Z77 FTW. I traced the problem to the room being too cold. My build was in an unheated room in the house and the ambient temps were around 50 degs F. With the side cover off, I blew some hot air using a hair dryer (hot air guns are too hot and do not use them). This worked!

Below 50 degs F ambient the computer will not POST and I get the 'FF' error - above 55 degs F everything is fine!

that sounds like the board is very sensitive. I guess its a lot of work to unmount 5 cards, use hot air, boot, shutdown and remount 5 cards. They're not all GPUs. I thought evga boards were more resilient than cheap gigabyte boards.

I'll try the hair dryer this weekend and hope it doesnt trip the circuit with a 1500w psu on the same wire (the other wire has a similar amount of devices). Did you use a high or low heat setting?

I usually use my pc to heat the room since running ray tracing on the hottest gpu fully overclocked does cycle hot air around. I suppose i should update my rigs.

Im using an i7 3770K, 4x8GB G.skill tridentX, PSU is Strider ST1500 (the really good one, not crappy one). Initially i used a coolermaster ucp ultimate 900W and it wouldnt power on but has blinking white LED. The PSU works well and has 825W on the 12V rail and a peak rating of over 1KW.

I dont think cards are relevant since i tested without any cards. For reference though:
    HD 7970
    2x GTX 580
intel quad port server nic PT
    auzentech HTHD soundcard.

I tested the intel nic on another machine with marvel nic and the CPU usage was many times lower when using a network bandwidth tester and gave me the full 2Gb/s bidirectional bandwidth. Apparently many still do not get that both high quality surround sound and multi gigabit networks use a significant amount of CPU ( up to 2 cores) which is why i use dedicated cards. So dont bash me for using dedicated nics and soundcards as i have done the tests to prove it.

What the heck is FF error code and why does EVGA have it labeled in the manual but it tells you nothing? Interesting error for sure.

Hey i have been getting FF Error code too.. and evga said that when you run Ram in all slots and plus the speed of 2133MHz  it could be why i get the FF error code or NO power up at all,  when trying to start it up. or controller that controls the Ram Volt.
but also the room is cold and at 60`D that could be the case too like other people Said.
when it does that i just turn the power supply off and then back ON and start it and it runs sometimes.
when i try to run at 2133Mhz it freezes, unstable sometimes and sometimes it is fine for awhile. but not when i first got the motherboard in year 2012
i  run the Ram at 1600Mhz for 4 days and it run good UN tell!!  today i got a FF error again, but got it working again.
but like all the other people it's really hard to find out whats really causing the problems.
it could be the Bios too who knows...
Evga is just RMA the motherboard, when i get the new motherboard, evga wants me to test it, and see if it happens to that one too.
    I'm using the G.Skill Ripjaws Z 2133MHz 4x4 total 16GB
    Intel i7 3770K
    Corsair HX1050 Pro watt P.S.
    Case: corsair 750D
EVGA Geforce GTX 770 Classified 4GB
NOTE:  i have been lately seeing  that when Motherboard is on stand by it's using 4-6watts???
that only the computer is plug in, no other devises.

mine worked after a while but im having all sorts of wierd problems caused by bios. It is common knowledge that the board has trouble running 4 dimms above 2000mhz.

Bios 1 detects 16 out of 32GB and no IGP regardless of setting
    Bios 2 i havent tested
Bios 3 has IGP but tries to allocate a non existant resource giving code 12 error in windows.

I think the bios chip could be messed up.
if you measure with a wattmeter from plug, the PSU itself uses a few watts when plugged in and unused. higher capacity psu uses more power. for example my 900w psu uses 15W plugged in and my 1500w psu uses 22w plugged in. standby readings are a watt more.
