Hi all, So just finished my new build and im running into boot issues. I get error code BF on boot, it will hang on BF for about 10-15 seconds and then shut off.
I have tested the PSU and graphics card independently on another PC and works fine. I cant test the ram as this pc is the only PC that can support DDR4. I have removed the 4 Sticks and used only one and move them across each slot 1 by 1 but still no resolution I have removed the PCI SSD to see if that was causing the issues but still nothing The manual says BF is Memory Training / DRAM Final Configuration but when I have googled it people have said many other things have caused BF issues like Overclocking and GPU issues. So im a bit confused. This is my setup below: PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2 Gold Power Supply Case: Corsair Carbide Air 240 Black Mini Cube Case Motherboard: EVGA X99 Micro Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i7 5820K RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 2666mhz 32GB (HX426C15FBK4/32) HDD: Kingston HyperX Predator 480GB SSD PCIe Graphic Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Superclocked ACX 2.0+ 6GB If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Do you get any video and can you get into your BIOS screen? Have you checked your CPU pins to see that they aren't damaged?
That's great that you were able to test your other components to simplify the cause of the issues.

Thanks for your quick response, upon putting the cpu into its slot I did check the pins. Bit of an old habit I guess, had no damage. I haven't checked since might be something to look at as a last resort though later on. I also thought it might be the heatsink bolted to tight to the cpu. have had some issues in the past with this happening. I loosened up the heatsink as much as I could before it was to loose. Gave that a go but no resolve. BF being RAM test could it maybe be miss compatibility with my memory that I purchased? I checked the Kingston website and all FURY models say my mobo is compatible. But it doesn't have my model ram on the list as it is to new and the list hasn't been updated. the motherboard handles 3000+ and mine is running at 2666 stock so I don't see it to be a problem. Also sorry forgot to mention no I don't get to bios, no visuals displayed what so ever. I don't think its getting as far as checking GPU..I think in the load up it gets stuck at memory testing stage and doesn't go further. Reason I say this is if I remove the power from the GPU but leave it plugged in it loads to BF and gets stuck still same issue. So how I see it the motherboard is running through its tests and getting stuck at BF (memory) and not getting further. as another test I removed the Ram entirely and booted to see if the motherboard would throw me a false positive which it did. Showed me a CC code instantly and rebooted and kept doing that over and over. Also just to rule it out I cleared the cmos/bios to see if form factory the settings had been tampered with for some odd reason but still no resolve.

What Ram kit are you exactly using. We'll have to check with the compatibility list of the MB itself.

I got the model in my original post. I managed to find the memory compatibility list. And my ram in the 16gb kit was on it. Same model same spec just 16gb kit not 32gb like mine. So this rules out compatibility issues. Checked cpu whilst I was at it and that's fine also.

Ah! My apologies as I totally missed that by accident. I also see the 16GB kit but not the 32GB kit on there but it "should" work as I'm using it lightly but EVGA will tell you they can only confirm what is compatible with what they've tested and listed. Honestly, at this moment it could either be the RAM or MB that isn't working but the CPU could also be in the mix as well since you're not getting a post what so ever and only a reading from the MB of the error based on memory. The memory controller is embedded in these CPUs (IMC) nowadays if I recall correctly. I'd try giving the EVGA 24/7 Tech support a call on this matter and see what they come up with as well.

My X99 Micro has been a headache as well. I am just going to ditch it and get a different one. If you are within your return policy criteria I would just return it. but that is just me. If you want to stay within the EVGA family I guess you could wait for the X99 Micro 2. Supposed to be a huge upgrade compared to the Legacy that we have. I wanted to use the Step up program but EVGA never listed the thing before my 90 days ran out.

I have removed the motherboard from the pc placed it on a testing bench. Used a different power supply, different graphics card and different heatsink. Same ram same CPu as I don't have other ddr4 or x99 CPUs to test. And I'm still having same error.
I know the 16gb kit of my ram is in the compatibility list but my 32gb kit isn't. It's the same ram but larger. Just thinking about it now though. Each stick would be 8gb instead of 4gb so there might be a difference

My RAM isn't on the supported list either. Runs decent until I try and set the profile on the RAM. Then it crashes and stuff so the RAM could be the issue but I dont know.

Kingston HyperX Fury 2666mhz 32GB (HX426C15FBK4/32) had the same issue with this ram. I had to update the bios after getting a compatible memory kit to boot it up with. updated to latest bios and ram works fine.

Probably memory related. Try one stick of memory to see if it will boot at all.

She boots up fine with two sticks in the left highlighted configuration. Its only when I add the other 2 sticks (2x8GB) in the right highlighted configuration she gets the qcode "BF". If I click the "memOK" button on the mobo, all the sticks are recognized. But when exiting out of the BIOS again she does not boot. Well, after tinkering all day with this I finally fixed it! I re-arranged the memory to this configuration: DIMM_B1, DIMM_D1, DIMM_B2, DIMM_D2. And she booted right up! Hello 32GB!
