Anyone upgrade from x79 to x99? Really worth it? Debating myself for more than 2 sata 6 ports native.

    I currently have both, 3960x and 5960x. The 5 series obviously os over all faster with more cores to abuse.

    If you have a good CPU in your X79 I see no reason to upgrade at this time.

    if money is no object then why not, performance wise it an increase but probably not a lot depending on what you get. IMO id wait a bit for prices to come down.

    I'd hold off for now. DDR 4 memory will get faster and cheaper in the near future.

    I wouldn't upgrade if you're on X79 right now. DDR4 isn't really a setup up. Broadwell-E is nice but not enough new feature going from IVY-E or even Sandy-E
     
    I'd wait for 10+ core CPU that are not labeled X

    I don't know about ten years but I think in a few years we will see K and X model chips with 8-10 cores.

    I'm planning on making the swap, I currently have an ASUS X79 Sabertooth, 3960X and 2 680 Classies that I'm about to sell so I can start upgrading asap!
    I just cringe when I look at DDR4 prices though. lol
    And waiting for dem 9XX Ti's

    Trying to determine if it's worth it, though I don't think so :)
