So everyone, got a bit of a horror story for yall:

Was opening the case to put in the sound card I saw something strange.  It appeared that there was some strange "fluid" on one of my 480s.  Upon closer inspection, I noticed that it was on both 480s.  Uh oh, looks like the H70 leaked.  Upon inspection of the pump, I noticed that it had leaked from the tube pivot points.  Used some 91% alcohol, cleaned everything up, and it all works just fine.  Strange thing is that nothing really stopped working in the first place, it was just a lucky catch when I was adding a sound card.  Thankfully, Corsair was smart enough to use a non-conductive fluid.

So, I'm going to RMA this one, and turn around and sell that new one, lol.  Oh, and Corsair owes me new backplates since both of the thermal pads are completely saturated with fluid, lol.

So, I will never put one of those things in my rigs ever again, lol.  Scared the crap outta me......

UPDATE:  Also, the stock heatsink looks funny.  Never had to use one before, but I didn't have anything else.

We'll, it's funny that I have had an H50 on my AMD system for two years with no problems.  Three months of this H70 and WAM!

This is not a true statement.  Please don't spout opinion as fact.  While it surely does happen, as evidenced by Kamarad, it is not "typical."  If you want to go down that rat hole then it would be fair to also include "any" water cooling build/component.

Actually this is only the second time i've heard of a Corsair H50 or H70 leaking. I've always been leery about using any kind of water cooling setup in a PC. It's something I would like to do but i'm afraid i'd screw something up and ruin all of my components.

Whew nothing wrong with mine. Hopefully nothing will be wrong O.o I've had it for almost a year now. At least you can still get it RMA'ed. Was there any difference in temperatures on your CPU? I find it hard to believe that it leaked and absolutely nothing changed xD

Doesn't Corsair replace everything in your PC that a leak ruins? So besides a little downtime it shouldn't be that bad

OUCH! That's why I'd prefer to go with a self-built Liquid Cooling System (LCS).

Definitely going to over-engineer my LCS to ensure the only way it will leak is if the pump has an integrity failure.

This is mostly why I'm a die-hard for air cooling.  If I wanna watercool, I'll build a loop.  At this point, I don't want to watercool, so I'll stick to air.

Well, nothing seems to be damaged, just fluid on the 480s around the sticker area.  The thermal pads on the backplates seemed to soak a lot of it up.  Still not sure how it got from the top 480 to the bottom one (means I can't trace the path).  There was some covering one side of the PCI-E connector, however it seems to have completely missed the mobo (cause I could not find any traces inside the connector of the mobo).  The stickers might be a problem since some of the ink came off while I was cleaning.

My primary worry is that if I ever DO have problems down the road, EVGA will take one look at those stickers (or any residue I missed) and cry physical damage (however it's non-conductive fluid).  It seems the card suffered no damage from this.  What would I do then?

The H70 is one of the best enclosed CPU water cooling solutions out there today. If your H70 leaked then it is very rare.

Ya, and void the warranty on every-single-part, because Mineral Oil leaves a 'film' that won't come off. Plus the design is kind of "meh", I like the Reactor X* design...something about pulling out the mobo in a rack-mounted way. Makes it feel like something from a Sci-fi Space movie and...THE COMPUTER CORE HAS FAILED, WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE UNLESS I CAN REBOOT THE CORE!. What...don't gimme that look; so I like to make a production out of simple upgrades

That sucks... both of mine have been running for a while now with no problems with my configuration.  I would think the extra strain i have on those tubes something would have happened by now if it was going to.

Ok, I have pics.  Not posting the warranty sticker ones but they are sticky and one is faded, but you can make out the numbers.  Also, I don't have any picture of the pump yet, I will take those later.  Notice the dark spots and the areas where the dust seems to stick:

Those thermal pads sure soaked up a lot of it.  Might be what saved me, but who knows? BTW: My 91% alcohol cleaned stuff off nicely.

yeah, that's why I love my card's backplates

Even picking up the card, it feels... more suited to the task

If I had known eVGA sold backplates back in 2010, I would of just went GTX470, and not HD5870, lol.

Also note, some of that on the inside of the backplate near the thermal pad is the thermal pad itself oozing. That same accumulation of something greasy looking is noted on the 580 backplates too except ours has a hole in the center and it sometimes is visible on the outside of the plate.

Of course, no question the stuff with the dust on the outside of the plate is for your, erm, leaking issues.
