For the life of me, I can't remember what the rule of thumb was for the IOH and ICH voltages. For the system in my signature, what settings should I start with for these voltages (21x200 overclock):

IOH Vcore (currently set to Auto)
IOH/ICH I/O Voltage (currently set to Auto)
ICH Vcore (currently set to 1.15V)

i7 3770K @ 4.8GHz (Koolance CPU-380i water block)
Gigabyte Z77X-UP7
2 x 8GB Corsair Dominator Platinum C9 1866MHz
Dual 240GB Corsair Neutron GTX in RAID 0
EVGA GTX 780 Ti Classified K|NGP|N w/ EK water block
Corsair AX1200
Dell 30" 2560x1600 U3011 Monitor
Koolance ERM-2K3U (copper) external cooler

Follow this guide!  Linuxrouter put this together quite well.  I've been using it to redo my OC.  I must say that I'm getting way better results using it then going the way we all used to go.

Give it a shot.  I will say you won't be disappointed!

Re:Rule of thumb for IOH/ICH voltages?? 2011/03/22 09:32:48 (permalink) ☄ Helpful
IOH: Set default (1.1V) for single GPU card, set to 1.2 for multiple. Some ppls say go to 1.3 for three or more cards.

ICH: Set to 1.15Vcore.

IOH/ICH: No need to adjust.

Main (gaming) rig: i7-3930K; Asus Rampage IV Extreme; H100 W/p-p Excaliburs, AS5; MSI 7870 2GD5/OC; Crucial M4 SSD 256GB.
See my primary ModsRigs: Adam for the rest, and I have a second (wife's) rig Asus Rampage III Extreme & 960: Eve.

Overclocking is useless to me if it is not rock stable.

My overclock is rock solid, I've just been seeing a lot of people using less IOH and ICH voltages than I was using, and I want to make sure I'm not using too much.

I remember someone stating a "rule of thumb" in regards to these three settings based on how many gpu's you were using, and that's what I'm looking for.

What I originally used to adjust my settings was a guide someone posted a long time ago about how to get the most of your gpu's by increasing these three voltages in a very systematic method, which I did, and got a good bit higher 3DMark score, almost 1,000 points more actually, but I still think those voltage were too high. After tweaking, I got my highest score using these:

IOH Vcore: 1.375
IOH/ICH I/O Voltage: 1.65
ICH Vcore: 1.300

As you see, those voltages are extremely high. Even though they gave me the best gpu performance, I reduced them back down to what I mentioned in my original post just out of longevity reasons.

Anyway, I can't remember who it was, but one of the more prominent members here posted this "rule of thumb" to set them to based on the number of gpu's, etc. and that's what I'm looking for.

EDIT: Oops, nevermind. HalloweenWeed was answering while I was typing. Thank you VERY much. That's exactly what I was looking for.

Yeah, I know what you mean, and I posted it in my last.

EDIT: Oh, now I see your edit. We're done here.
