Hi gang,

Having a bit of trouble, and need your wise guidance.

I just build my first HTPC.  Here are the specs:

The PC:
EVGA GT 240
Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W
ASUS M4A785-M
LG Black Blu-ray Disc Combo SATA Model UH10LS20
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB 5400 RPM SATA
AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2
PowerDVD 10
XBMC Media Center

The Television:
LG 42" 120 Mhz LED
1920x1080

Here's my issue:

All content, BluRay, HD or not,  plays choppy (Not skipping), ie like the refresh rate is too low (It's set at 60); also, unfortunately, I can't seem to raise the Refresh Rate to 120.

I never had this problem when video was streaming via USB cable in either the LED, or the LG BluRay BD590 player I was using that this replaces.  All content played well.

I'm using the latest nVidia drivers, and I'm plugged in via high quality HDMI cable..

My question is this:  Any way that I can fix this?  Or am I using the wrong card?  If so, which one should I be using?

Thanks again!

Past 20usd on monoprice... there is no reason to get a "better" HDMI cable unless if it's 12AWG and 100' long :p

Anyhow, the tv you have does not accept a 120Hz input. It takes a lower frequency signal and doubles up on the frames, basically uses an image processor to give the appearance of true 120Hz (it is refreshing @ 120Hz, however, it's doing that with a bit of processing and at most, a 60Hz input).

Are you plugged in via a HDMI port on the card, or via an adaptor?

Finally, what is the frame rate of the source material? Some, like 23.96, are a bit messy :p

    eVGA FTW!

    Thanks for the quick response!

Some of the source material is a bit messy, but the Blu-Rays (I tried Ironman last night) look a bit choppy as well....

Okay, I did a bit of research. I gotta go soon, but here goes:

Nightly builds use GPU acceleration. Current stable release for windows uses the CPU for video decoding.

If you are willing, test out a nightly build compiled alreay, here:

    http://sshcs.com/xbmc/?mode=DXB

as for PowerDVD, I have no clue :( I'm sorry.

Dude.   You're the man.  I'll give that a shot tonight, and get back to you tomorrow with results.

Performance is definitely better.  Thanks again for your help.

Still sloggy on the bluray playback with PowerDVD 10... But XBMC is definitely better.

    Cheers-
