I am getting Unstable machine errors every time I start a WU. I'm using the FAH GPU traker V2 with the detected settings but it just plain refuses to run on the 8600gt. I even tried downclocking the card with Precision to see if that would help.

Any Ideas?

I'm getting this error too with my 8400M GS, using the 260.99 driver. Are you using the same driver? And Using FAH GPU Tracker V2

Strange. Everything looks like it is set up right.

Have you tried going into the GPU0 folder and manually deleting the FahCore_11.exe, forcing it to redownload a new one? Something to try.

Also, in case you were planning to get EVGA Bucks, your username and forum name do not match right now, but they need to in order to qualify for the promotion. You would have the option of changing your folding username or ask Shane if he can help you out by maybe changing your forum name to match.

I have emailed Shane twice regarding that subject and I have received no reply. I also pm'ed him once and was told to email the request. I'm not saying he has done anything wrong and I do want a favor I would have just like a response. I sent the first email to him on the 2nd at the email sduff@evga.com. After the pm I sent another to webmaster@evga.com.

Shane if you see this, I need help!

Change or no change I will still fold for the team!

I tried doing this on a 8400M GT a while back, you simply can not, only 128MB of vRAM. Besdies it only has 8 cuda cores the GT version :P

Id beware too, my 8400M GT cold-soldered a few months later when gaming, due to bad airflow and faulty 8400M GT chips. Sony refused to listen so thats the last time im buying from them :P

Basically, you cant fold on the 8400M GS or GT, and I think the 8600 GT desktop is limit too.

Understood, yeah its a Sony, the graphics card has been a problem... Flash crashes with hardware acceleration, etc...

Yeah, in that case id leave it well well alone :P and just fold with your desktop, or you may eventually end up with pink lines, blue rectangles etc like mine :P

If cold-soldering occurs you will also get random symbols pre-bios, and pink lines and stuff.

By no means is this linked to just folding, but any usage of these GPUs and eventually, (even gaming or internet browsing) they seem to all die on you.

What sickens me is that Nvidia paid out millions to the OEM manufacturers to repair this, instead the OEMs just keep the money and raise warranty on a few models by like 6 months, (exlcuding mine and the majority of other laptops of course...) and hope that most customers wont even notice the warranty was increased by a bit anyway.

It's not like Shane to do that....hmmm. Well, I sent him a PM to come here and take a look at your situation. Did you send your e-mails to him from the same account you have listed on your profile page?
