I had a couple other thoughts on this. First, here's
a guide as to how to make a generic connector from the S/PDIF header on the mobo to an RCA plug. With my previous post (from the EVGA FAQs) and a multimeter, you should be able to make a cable. Second, on some of the legacy RealTek onboard sound chips, the digital in and out was controlled by software and would appear at the analog ports on the mobo port bank on the back of the PC. The only way of really telling if this still works is to try plugging your digital decoder into the SR-2 black analog port (with an adapter) and then use the RealTek Audio manager to change the output from analog to digital. I doubt that this is the way that the SR-2 is set up, but you could ask EVGA support about it.
You could also do a bit more Googling the Internet on this as there is a lot of stuff on RealTek HD audio onboard sound. For example,
here is a pre-wired S/PDIF front plate. You could also rewire either one of
these or
these. It's somewhat interesting that EVGA doesn't make a backplate S/PDIF bracket, but the demand probably isn't there.
