Well for thoe of use who have recieved them, they run great without any issues. there was some minor thoughts and concerns, but after some troubleshooting, it has been confirmed by many that the power boost stablized the +12v and run flawless. IMO EVGA is good to go with release of this product.

Please post if you have recieved a powerboost and your results/approval of this product for EVGA's refference.

+1 for me, powerboost runs great, +12v is constant voltage and does not fluxuate anymore. power leads are only 6" long makes it hard to route cables in a clean manner IMO. however a great product. would recommend to all in need.

Installed the Power boost on Tuesday Morning.  Applied my CPU and GPU OC's and the 12v voltage is much more stable then prior to the Powerboost install.  Infact voltages across the entire MB either no longer drop as much if at all under stress loading ( Prime 95, Heaven 2.1, etc ).

I am very happy for the fix and will be ordering atleast 1 perhaps 2 more for some 780 boards that will be getting my 480's when my 580's arrive.  That will have to wait for folks to get thier fixes first but that is just fine with me.

Thank you EVGA for once again going above and beyond for your customers when 99.9% of other companies would have done nothing in my opinion.  That is the type of CS I like and am happy to pay for when I purchase EVGA products.

np, i only know of 3 members with results so far. where are the rest? would love for EVGA to launch asap, but would be helpful to them for more results/responces back from the ones they sent out.

Ok, I recived mine took me a few days to get back, because I couldn't decide where to put it, Note I have four systems listed in SIG. below, and one power boost. I decided NOT to put it on the E758, it's running 260's so it doesn't needit, and I dcided not to put it in the 762, it has the additional plug, so it doesn't need it,this left me with a 760 with 2 580's, and a 759 with 2(295's ) the delima, the PB was designed for 480's, so the 762 would be a good choice since the 580's replace the 480, but per nvidia, the 295's actualy use more power than the 580's ( the 580's call for 600 watts min for first card and 244 watts for second.)

the 295's call for 680 Watts  first card and 289 for the second

Not being an expert, I opted to install on the one with the largested rated specification, post if you think I made a mistake, I am pleased with the results, but want to spend more time running tests, may change it to the other system and test some more, I am looking forward to obtaining more, but think it would be approprote for me to wait, before I ask for a second, while some of you still waiting on the first one. I would be willing to buy a few, if these were made available under products acceseries above .

as far as problems the only one I had was beyond EVGA controll, First delivery attempt I was home but did not heare UPS knocking, They taged my door.( on a Friday, ) Monday I was deturmined to get it so I camped out near my door all day, However, I had to Pick up my daughter fron School, and they managed to Tag my door again, During the 1/2 hour I spent picking her up. Third day I was at the door waiting on UPS when he pulled up, but he also delivered a 980, some SSD's, and a H-70 for my new 762, so although I had my new Power boost, I had to decide what I wanted to play with, and what could wait. { have you ever felt like a child, set free in a candy store } I love the problem of too many Toys, or too much candy, and not enough mouths.   I hope to provide more info once I get back to playing with it, and running benches, ( I'm a big fan of TMI obviousley.)

On a side note, Before VB install:

    After VB Install

Not sure the VB was the only variable, First one I was folding on 2(580's ) and SMP, second shot, Just SMP.

How does one go about getting one or two of these?  I have an E759 board with two EVGA GTX580SC's.  Do you need one for each card..., or do you just plug it into an unused PCIEx slot such as the one between my two video cards?

I remember reading that these would be available around the end of November, but I've heard nothing and haven't seen anything on the EVGA site about where or how to get them.

According to EVGA they will make these available to all those with compatible boards for a limited time period.

They better make it obvious how to get one when this happens, no putting you name in threads you wont know about unless you spend most of your time on these forums, as I would like one for my 2 GTX 295's + GTX 285 (PhysX) set-up.

    My sig is too big

cant be greedy or angry that you guys have not recieved one, or have to wait imo. EVGA does not have to provide this fix in anyway imo. they are doing this as a kind favor for us in the community guys. EVGA pays the cost here for us to be happy.

Thank you EVGA and even if i never recieved one yet, i would be more than happy to wait patiently as most of use are.

    thank you again

you can only use the powerboost in the slot installed in, no other components. IMO thats why i sugest installing in a pci-e x1/x4 slot, instead of using up a gpu slot.

so far as using up some of the 36lanes, no. power addition only.

    Re:EVGA POWERBOOST (PCI-E Molex fix) 2010/12/10 17:10:36 (permalink)
UPDATE: removed powerboost today to re-route for clean hidden look. modded the powerboost from 6" lead to 18" lead and with a higher gauge wire as well. works without a hitch np's and hidden. bios reads 12.10 on the +12  and everrest read 11.98 before powerboost install, now reads 12.04 steady. (i also have alot of adapters and extention in my rig) so for each one i lose a bit of power as well as the modular PSU's. so imo 12.04 is nt back concidering my config.

No issues with the powerboost to report all is well so far and does help. 24pin is not hot at all where it was before nor is the lead for the powerboost.

    GREAT job EVGA +1

Please correct me if I'm wrong but this mod is to be installed in any free pci-e x1/x4/16 slot and then plugged into a free molex cable on your PSU and that's it, correct?

Is there any hope of these being sold, I don't have a classified mobo, but I have an evga 480. Running tri-sli and had to rma my ud3r and tpq-1200 as the 24 pin melted just like the pics of the classifieds.

    I'll gladly pay for it.

Thank God for EVGA.  I really wish now I had bought 2 480's and spent the rest on a 762+ classified that has a native power mod.  If only I had known.

I have been informed that Europeans can expect this item sometime in January but an exact date in January is not yet known. If I find out any additional info I'll let everyone know.

I'd go ahead and get it urinemachine.

You have the 760 mobo, and the native fix wasn't instituted until the 762.  Apparently even dual 480's can overload a 760.  Better safe than sorry mate.  Trust me, I'm very sorry I didn't know current mobos needed a power mod for 480 sli/tri.
