when i try logging in safe mode it halts on
\windows\system32\drivers\avgidseh.sys and freezes.

edit- also, i dont have a vista boot disk to run the repair process...can i go buy another copy of vista and use that disk to repair my windows (i'd really rather repair it than have to wipe it and do a clean install....) or should i just give up and go buy and disk and clean install?

I just read that last night in the news about AVG latest update hosing all boot ups under Win 7....  I guess Vista  is basically the same thing, so that makes sense.

Someone really messed up over there, for sure.
