As title,
Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, ECS presented their new motherboards for sandy bridge,
this is a big advertisement for free and it help creating hipe on products.

It is also useful for customers who needs to buy fast a mobo when the SB became available.

Don't you need it? Are you too cool for this?

Are you saying EVGA should announce a sandy bridges motherboard now instead of when they are ready?

EVGA has presented new products at trade shows prior to an official announcement in the past.  But good luck finding an official announcement on the site prior to the official release.

I'm guessing they are planning on announcing it at some point, that's when they will get the free advertisement, just because they choose not to announce anything NOW doesn't mean they won't ever. I'm sure when the time is right they will.

I think it is smart of them to hold off before announcing anything. You know what I hate more than anything when it comes to PC hardware? When they say it is going to be out around a specific time and when that time comes around it gets delayed for whatever reason. Kind of saving everyone from possible disappointment. But who really knows why they actually hold off till the last moment.

    Intel i7 4790K - Corsair H90 - MSI Z87 MPOWER MAX AC - MSI GTX 980 (81.7% ASIC) - 16GB G.Skill 2400MHz - Seasonic X-1250 - Crucial MX100 512GB - Corsair Carbide 500R

    +1
But it would be nice too to announce the product name, then giving it "TBA" thing for the release date.. that is so people would know that there is something coming from EVGA..

    That would be something nice..

they know quality takes time and to rush it merely gives you a bad quality board

im sure evga is hard at work making such a nice mobo you will drool with envy at any who own it

No, I think it is more along the line of what Rain stated, regarding delays.  It can also be tied up in NDA agreements among different companies.

I kind of like that but have mixed feelings about it. Cause on one hand, that looks like a huge heatsink all around it, but can't tell if that is plastic or metal. If it's plastic, I don't see how the whole board is going to breath. It would be like putting a sweater on in 100 degree weather. But on the other hand, it's kinda nice cause it keeps the buyer away from snapping off a capacitor or something when installing new hardware.

Maybe EVGA will have an SR-2.1 or 3? IDK, will these Sandy Bridge processors really require a new type of motherboard? Will they need a new socket? Could utilizing them be done with a firmware or BIOS update? I would like to know since I just bought an SR-2 and really wanted a motherboard that will stay top-notch for a long time.

yes, it creates hipe, it creates free advertisement to the brand and it let customers knowing more on the products before buying it.

As I said previously Asus, Gigabyte, ECS and MSI has just presented their new lineup.

There is no particular need to hype an EVGA offering vs just letting it sell on it's own merits. It's obvious that EVGA does marketing a bit differently than "Asus, Gigabyte, ECS and MSI" and succeeds quite well in the process. Something can be said for leading and not following by example.

Also releasing information about a product before it's released is not "free" advertising. Everything done by a marketing department by a business costs money. If there is to be a new mobo, I'm sure Jacob, Joe and whoever else knows what they're doing when they run teasers for it in the future. Afterall, they do this for a living and are not armchair marketing majors like all of us in this thread. I don't always agree with how EVGA does things, but they tend to be effective regardless of your or my opinion about how best market their wares.

The best free advertisment EVGA has going for it, is the Customer service ( or rather lack of ) the compatition provides when they rush a product to market. Being late to the show is fine, if all you miss is the warm up band.

I do not know if EVGA will produce a similar motherboard to the one mentioned by the OP. All of you know how much work and effort EVGA puts into the manufacture of their motherboards. 'If' EVGA should decide to make such a motherboard then it will be one of the best if not the very best model out there.

I read that the Sandy Bridge cips will also come in a xeon server version. Do you think EVGA will make a workstation style motherboard that uses 2 Sandy Bridge processors?

rjohnson11 can "think" about anything just like we all can. He has no inside information either way. And if he did he'd be legally bound not to disclose the information without approval from official channels. Asking his opinion on it is merely his opinion.

It does seem logical that a Sandy Bridge mobo will be produced in the future though by EVGA.

I am thinking that Apple "leaked" that new iphone in that coffee shop a while back as free advertising.  It totally worked.  EVGA is smart like that, but cooler. (and without the goatee's, berets, macbooks & overpriced coffee shops)
