Today I got my HAF X case (woohoo!) and was putting all my parts into it. I'm at the phase of cleaning my 930 D0 and H50 surfaces and after some good scrubbing with Arcticlean 1 and 2 I noticed that these marks won't come off!

Burn marks? Permanent residue? Yikes??!!

Should I even be putting this back and turning on the PC??!! It just doesn't look right ARGH!

Wow....was the H50's preinstalled TIM used for that install or did you use something different or none at all? I think I'd want to buff that out before using again.

Have to say that does not look healthy at all hopefully you can get that mark off the CPU and pump something definitely burned there.
    Didn't you use IC diamonds?
Hope mine doesn't end up like that.

Yep previous TIM was IC Diamond, I figured since I had no problems with this setup previously before I took it out of my old case, I'd install it and give it a shot. Works flawless. I'm assuming it's just imprints left behind from high loading/heat? I also had the CPU and H50 sitting in open air with the TIM for a few days, I only cleaned it off just today for installation.

Just installed Windows 7 and right now the temperature on the mobo LED shows 22C. Running stock clock, not bad! Got lots of configuring, installations, etc etc to do but I'll save that for another day.

    Gotta love second builds

Wow, that's pretty nasty... I wonder if IC Diamond does that to everyone's setups? I mean, that kinda a mark could be a warranty breaker if your H50 craps out.

I'm not using the IC Diamond on my H70 but I used it before on my true 120 extreme/stock intel hs and it always left a stain/polish on my cpu and heatsink that was impossible to clean out. That ring could be a stain left by the IC Diamond when it reacted with the copper surface, but I'm not too sure because it looks like some type of corrosion.

Lapping the heatsink surface should fix this eh?

Any harm from leaving it like this? I'm currently seeing very good temps in my new case though...
