THE FACTS
i have decided to do this molex mod on my e758 motherboard. after reading very carefully i found it is very simple to do. the method however would very from the e758 vs. the classified motherboards. with the classified motherboards a simple 2 12v leads are soldered to the 24-pin contact along with 2 ground leads to the 24-pin contacts. (per orientation of this mod guide:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=226942) the only reason this orientation works is because the traces in the classified motherboards are beefer than that of traditional motherboards. with that said, with the e758 or any other board but the classified boards, you need to solder directly to the PCI-E slot and bypass the traces so you do not burn them out running more power through them.
THE UNKNOWN
what is still unclear for me though is if i solder directly to the PCI-E slots per this mod :
http://vr-zone.com/print/-vr-zone-s-pci-express-current-booster-mod/3101.html , is the red lead (3.3v) required? Im thinking not, but maybe someone could confirm this. The second thing that is unclear is will i need 3 seperate molex connections (one per slot for this to work) or can all 3 slot run off one molex? maybe someone could chime in here as well. An alternative option, assuming you do not need the 3.3v leads, would be to use a 6-pin PCI-E connection to power all the slot. because the 6-pin connector houses 3 yellow 12v leads and 3 black ground leads.
Once these question are answered and it is confirmed, I will do this mod and report for other to follow if you choose to do so as well.
(currently awaiting approval at xtremesystems to speak with

if any one here has an account with them that could copy/paste this thread/text into a reply/new thread for him would be much appreciated. the soon these questions could be answer the better. - justin (Thank you)
