So i am running the 260 FTW edition video card but starting to notice it slacking on me. Past few nights have had it over 95% gpu usage and was seeing FPS drop to like 15 ;(.

I am thinking its time to update, was eying the 460 here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130567
My thoughts though how big of a stepup would this be, + would i be able to run it SLI with my 260 or not?

What Games Are You Playing? What Monitor Resolution.

Depending On what Games you may see a noticable improvement 1 because its a newer/better product and the other because it has 1gb vram rather then 869mb vram

As for SLI, sorry but you can olny sli cards of the same type. I.e. 2x260's, 2x460's etc

what you could do is buy that 460 and use your 260 as physx which will boost preformance in some games.

    Just my .02

I run WoW, Starcraft 2, Bad company2, Team fort 2 for the most part.

As for using the 260 for physx boost how does that work exactly? Not done anything with multiple video cards yet.

As for my 930 no it is running stock still. Highest i have seen it go while running all my apps was like 15% usage so dont see point in OCing it. What i am seeing get hit hard on my system right now is Hard drive and video. my 640gig 7200 that i have OS and games on just doesnt cut it any more either ;(.

right we can rule out a serious bottle neck on the card. granted there is still a bottle neck there
but it shouldnt drop your frames to 15. the biggest diffrence you will see is going from 896mb vram to 1gb vram on most new games its almost necessary to have a gpu with 1gb or more vram  if your running at any res above 1920x1080.

as for physx the new 256.xx drivers basically do it for you all you do is go into the nvidia control panel and set the 260 as dedicated physx

as for harddrive i cant help you there, allthough i would suggest maybe updating to a 750gb or 1tb as some of the new HDD's are faster then some of the old raptors.    scratch that i see you have a 1tb already. do you have a set amount of money to upgrade or not?

    hope this helps,

So i was looking back at my computer parts and my 640g HD only has a 16mb cache sata3.0.  Granted i got it 3 years ago but that i think determines as to why its slacking.

But i dont think HD and video card both will be in budget, and i am hoping that in time i will find a good price for a SSD. Then i can just toss OS and few games on that and keep other drives for media and such.

a single 260 is not enough power today...

i´m sure that 930 stock can handle that 260 easily.... but you´ll see a lilttle boost if you OC it over 3.6ghz....

as Otso said, your resolution would be better with at least 1GB memory caard

I don't really have a set budget. But seeing as how i just picked up the MB ram and cpu. Not wanting to drop a whole lot again this month lol.  But i am wanting to get my system back up to running tip top. I usually do a full system upgrade every 2 years and its about 4 months past that time.

    460 = $250
    then maybe a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533
to replace my older 640g brings total to $340+ s&h Little more than id like to spend just now but meh we only live once...

Move that new drive to main drive and then move the 640 to spare. Since my current 1tb is getting full. Photos music and video's take up to much darn space!

My only thing though, is getting a new 1tb drive worth the money or should i just save up some for a bit and grab a ssd for better performance?

Yea i probably could, but not going to do OCing on stock cooling ;(

I have built a lot of systems for me / friends / family. But have never really done much with OCing i know that i would need to get a better cpu cooler then as for settings i have no idea where to go.

if you can deal with lightly used products take a stroll over to the marketplace you can find some good deals over there :)
its actully where i bought all my comp parts with the excption of my 1tb hdd

and id buy a new TB drive as you said if the other ones getting full and that will be faster because of the sata 6gbs which should increase your load times.
once again thats just my .02

    to this

You'll get better loading times, not much, but it is there.

Maybe i will just get the video card then and see how that affects performance then go from there. At this point only 3 things i have not updated. Video HD and case. (mostly because nothing really wrong with my antec 900.)

for $10 more id go with this one because you will get the lifetime warranty rather then just a 2-3 year one.

I was looking around though doesnt really seem like there are that many games that run the physx engine. At least not ones that i am currently playing. IE World of warcraft, Starcraft 2, battlefield bad company 2, Team fortress 2.... Or would setting up the 260 for Physx processing be good future prep?

or you could try your hand at selling it in the market place and recoup some costs.
