i didn't want that favour if they just told me that i wouldn't get a new one i would never send it back i clearly said to them before i sent it that i do not want it back if they told me that i would get it back then ok i would try to get it up myself or have someone do it for me theres plenty of services who can do that without a problem

You really may have O.C.D.....I'm serious. I'm not insulting you by saying that. You are exhibiting signs of it clear as day. If you are obsessed to the point of not wanting the card back because the thought of someone else stressing it makes it not new to you anymore. You need help.

All cards are stressed before they are sold to make sure they function. So in your eyes that must mean all cards are "violated" before they are even sold? It's an inanimate object, it can't be violated. Stressing the card simply means running the GPU at 100% load for a few minutes, nothing more.

so your telling me that it's weird to expect a brand new card when you pay 700$ for it?

if they told me what would happen when they knew the problems i wouldn't be having this problem now

you buy new as you want new right would you want anyone touching what you just bought brand new i don't even want to buy a used physics card as i know it has been used

i want everything brand new untouched i bet im not the only one

and it's not only the stressing part its the removing the protective sticker part it's the scratches part and so on so fourth basically i want new when i pay for new

and for everyone evga was not involved with this it was the retailer not evga

Hell, if I had to RMA my 480 I'd be happy they stress-tested it again just to make sure it worked properly.  They're the company that manufactured the part, I figure if anybody is going to be able to determine if something is wrong with the card it'd be them.

And it's improper to expect a brand new card when you've damaged the card you bought and are sending it back to be fixed.  It's not like you bought a brand new card and it was DOA and you sent it back to exchange it for another working one - you broke the screw on this card and they fixed the broken screw.  Why should they have to eat the cost of a brand new 480 because of damage you caused to the card?

You do realize that even a brand new-in-box card has been plugged in and run in a tester and in a computer before it gets packaged and shipped to you, right?  It's impossible to purchase a computer component that's never been installed and powered-up before - that's called Quality Assurance.

zzcool, no offense but my reccomendation to you is to stop buying things.

i am afraid that you will have a very short life because of all the anger you will have because of your unrealistic expectations of things you buy.

You card is STILL NEW. They just verified for you that all is well with it before sending it back to you.

I don't care if someone touches one of my cards that was purchased brand new. Just because they touch it or even stress it for a few minutes doesn't make it not new anymore.

You really may want to get the O.C.D thing looked into for your won good. It's not healthy to obsess over trivial things like this.

I am failing to see the problem here... It is still a new card and still under warranty even after the RMA.

You're acting as if the card was a sentient being. It's an inanimate object completely devoid of feeling or emotion.

If the card has a small scratch it's no worse for wear than when you tried destroying a screw on it. But prepare yourself, the card is going to come back with finger prints because someone had to handle it in order to fix what you destroyed.

And furthermore, they most likely couldn't tell you what they were going to do with the card when you sent it in for repair because without seeing it, it's impossible to know if they could simply replace the screw or if there was more serious damage.  Companies limit liability by not promising something sight-unseen.  Same reason when you take your car to a shop for repairs after an accident, you get an estimate - they won't know the full cost of repairing it until they actually start taking it apart and repairing it - it wouldn't be prudent for them to say it will be X to fix it when really it will be Y.

Again, get over it! Next time don't destroy the screw while trying to remove it take your time.

And for what it's worth: Who cares if one screw is different? How often to you look at the back of your PC? The only person at fault here is you. Move on with your life now please.

Even if you told them in detail what happened, they're still not going to take the risk and make promises without seeing the card for themselves.  I could promise a dealership up and down that the only thing wrong with my car is a bad wheel bearing, but they're still going to do their own diagnosis once the car gets there.

You need to calm down and try to be a little more rational about this entire issue.

i took my time i was careful it wouldn't go up it's like it didn't have any grip it wouldn't move

the other screws worked like a charm if all the screws wen't up without a problem i would be happy but thats not what happend

they knew the screw was stripped i told them it wouldn't go up it was completely stripped they knew what was wrong if they told me that there was a risk of something else happening i would never send it in
