I just put Windows 7 on my computer. Updated all the drivers (I think) Everything seems to be working fine except when swithing from screen to screen. the monitor (LG E2350) goes into a mode that looks like it's out of sync for about 30 seconds then returns to normal. I swapped out video cards and it stopped. Any suggestions??

Try overclocking the card by 5mhz on the core and the ram with precision, and setting it to overclock on startup , I've heard this before.

I can verify that this card does have issues with Vista/7 and that overclocking it does make them go away.  Set the OC to start when Windows starts and you will likely never have to worry about it again.

Thanks for the advice but I'm an 'old school', 65 yr old who likes to play games occasionally but don 't know much about the technical side. Is there somewhere I can go to learn the overclocking techniques?

1. Download EVGA Precision here: http://www.evga.com/precision/

2. The main screen will look like this:

3. There will be no value for the Shader bar.  This is normal for 7 series and lower cards.

4. You can either drag the Core and Memory sliders over until the corresponding numbers are at least 5MHz higher than they were or you can click the numbers and manually type in values.

5. Click "Apply"

6. You can save the overclock as a profile by clicking the arrow below the Apply button so a little drop down appears with 10 grayed out numbers (1-0).
Right click one of them and it will save the profile.

7. Click the little radio button above the Test button.  This will set Precision to automatically apply this overclock on boot.

Click the wrench icon to the right of the apply button.  In the main window:

Click the Start with Windows and Start minimized buttons and hit OK.

8. Enjoy your less problematic 7900GT.  Precision will start when Windows starts and will load the OC automatically.  If there are any other issues, feel free to come back and let us know.

Good luck!

EDIT: If you still have issues after this, I have a 7900GT that I can throw in my Windows 7 computer and try multiple monitors.  Just let me know.

No problem.  I went through this when I got two 7900GTs.

I had this problem as well after buying a used 7900gt and have found out that OC'n does nothing! just makes it worse. however.....
I did figure out that the ram clock is set to hi, dropped it by 5 and that solved the issue. so tried a stability test on the card and it failed! when the temps hit 70c the card artifacts and screen freezes. noted that the heat sink was very HOT!    push the 7900gt's to hard and they crap out. stock heat sink sucks. I can see y so many changed the heat sinks out on these cards.
