- The Official TRI-SLI 260, 280, and 285 Vantage Score Thread -
This does not have to be a record-setting run... We just like collecting the data.
Please provide a Vantage link with post, to allow for score verification.
NOTE: Please run Vantage using the default settings.
Please run with PhysX on, the way it's meant to be played!
For GPU, please select:
A) For 65nm GTX 260 Core 192
B) For 65nm GTX 260 Core 216
C) For 55nm GTX 260 Core 216
Help me out and populate this line with your data: If running Tri-285's, populate this line:
Name ---------------------- E8600@ 4.40GHz --- (3) 285 648/1476/1242 ----- P30,123
If running Tri- 280's, populate this line:
Name ---------------------- Q9450@ 3.65GHz --- (3) 280 602/1296/1107 ----- P28,123
If running Tri-260's, populate this line:
Name ---------------------- Q6600@ 3.91GHz --- (3) A @ 576/1242/0999 ----- P26,123
I can't count on FutureMark's page to accurately record your CPU speed, or GPU settings... Feel free to post ONE picture of your system, if you wish.
Only the #1 slot gets their entry in RED, signifying they are our current Big Dog.

_________________________________________________________________________ Just for reference on 260's: On Core: The 65nm GTX 260 Core 192 (A), 65nm GTX 260 Core 216 (B), and the 55nm GTX 260 Core 216 (C), all run at the same reference clock speed of
576MHz on core.
Stream Processors (Shaders): Based on the which 260 you own, it will have either 192 or 216 Stream Processors. The GTX 260 Core 192's have 64 Texture Filtering Units. The GTX 260 Core 216's have 72 Texture Filtering Units. All 260's have 28 ROP's. The shaders are clocked at
1,242MHz on
reference cards
.
On Memory: The GTX 260's have 896MB of GDDR3, with a 448-bit memory bus, set to
999MHz on reference cards. This gives the 260's a
111.9 GB/s memory transfer rate, before OC'ing the memory.
All GTX 260's have the same N2C RAM, which is rated up to 1200MHz (2400MHz effective).
Power Connectors: (2) 6 Pin. Nvidia recomends for a system running a single 260, a
500W or more PSU is required. The 260's maximum graphics card power draw is listed as
182W's.
_________________________________________________________________________
Just for reference on 280's and 285's: On Core: A 280 is set at
602MHz, and the 285 is at
648MHz by default, on non-OC'ed cards. Both have 32 ROPs, and 80 Texture Filtering Units.
Stream Processors (Shaders): The 280 and 285 both have 240.
The shaders are set to
1,296MHz on the 280, and to
1,476MHz on the 285.
On Memory: Both cards have 1024MB's of GDDR3, and sport a 512-bit Memory Interface (Bus). The memory clock is set to
1,107MHz on the 280, and to
1,242MHz on the 285. The GTX 280 has a
141.7 BG/s memory bandwidth, and the GTX 285 has
159.0 GB/s bandwidth before OC'ing the cards memory...
A 280's N2C RAM is rated up to 1200MHz (2400MHz effective).
A 285's N3C RAM is rated up to 1300MHz, (2600MHz effective). The biggest change was from going from the 280's 65nm die size, to the 285's smaller 55nm die and fabrication process.
Power Connectors: The 280 requires
(1) 6 pin, and
(1) 8 pin power connector, and the 285 needs
(2) 6 pin. The 280's maximum power draw is listed at
236W, and the 285 is listed at
183W.
The 285's board layout was also changed from the 280, locating all memory chips on only one side of the card. The smaller size of the 55nm GPU allowed for this to happen.
A 280's full cover water block, will not fit a 285, nor can a 280 and 285 run in SLI together.
_________________________________________________________________________
ORIGINAL: DuckieHo
The way the technology works is this (in layman's terms)....
The same data gets to sent to both video cards. Each video card manipulates the data for their half of the screen for the next image. Then the two halves get combined. So while there is a total of 1792MB of memory, there is an effective 896MB. Each GPU core gets its own dedicated 896MB. This is the same with Crossfire technology.
The advantage of Crossfire or SLI is doubling the number of processing cores. Memory size generally is not as important.
