I just got this board today.  I thought everything was alright.....is this normal?  I haven't done the bios update yet...I can't for the life of me find a blank cd in my house lol!  Should I worry or will a bios update most likely fix this.

I have a d0 i7 920
win 7 pro 64bit
radeon 5870
1050w enermax 80+
6gb of ocz gold 1600 ddr

All of my settings are default as of now.

If you have virtulization on in bios it allocates memory for that. so make sure that is turned off.

I found the fix somewhere, don't remember, but click "start", type "system configuration", click "boot", click "advanced options", (make sure "number of processors" is CHECKED  and set to maximum available) and to the right of that box make sure "maximum memory" is UNCHECKED... took me hours of searching to find this out last weekend (I almost did a Windows 7 reinstall before I found the fix) That fixed my problem, boots faster with "maximum processors" set to highest, and most importantly I discovered my memory was not bad as others led me to believe...  Hope this fixes your problem!

Found this interesting....it has reserve memory.  Someone told me something about memory remapping

Question...I left a couple of the mounting screws off of the motherboard.  Would this have an effect on this????  Could it not be properly grounded or something thus not letting all the memory be used?  I don't know much about what the function of using all the mounting holes are.

I have had this problem for a while... I eventually found a bad stick of ram and that was my problem. Also it only occured when I went over a 180 bclk. So my fix was finding that bad stick.... I doubt missing some screws is doing it.

Some other common problems related to this I've read.... heatsink for CPU is too tight, try loosening it. If that doesn't fix it then take out your CPU, look at the socket, look for bent pins.

Okay I'll try loosening up my heatsink.

After that I'll test the memory.  I'm pretty sure its no the memory though...never know though.

lot's of threads like this out there, many EVGA, but I have seen other board mfg listed. Almost always corsair memory at 1600

I can temporarily "fix" by reseating RAM or Processor.

Found the problem.................I figured this set of ram was good.  Its my 3rd set of ram, but my first set of OCZ.  I switched from my asus mobo to this one, which never would read over 4gb of ram and now that I have a board that reads it all I see that I have one stick bad.  It wouldnt boot with one of the sticks, but it recognizes that its there it just cant use it after I have a couple good one's installed with it.  Thanks for the help.

I am having this exact same problem....

Can anyone please post a picture after they fixed this showing 6gb ram(6gb usable)?

Anyway, I am going to try to trouble shoot it.

I have the Corsair Dominator 1600.  I7 920 windows 7.  I am getting that exact same message and its driving me nuts.

well i have the same problem but yes i need VT and no i do not believe that is doing it because sometimes the system comes up with 3gb in bios on some boots and others not but i will try to disable VT.
but normaly VT has nothing to do with it. its the 64bit option in bois and mem remaping that allows you to get full ram support above the 3GB limitation. normaly VT has nothing to do with that. i will try but as i said this does not happen every boot.

Well documented problem, most likely with multiple etiologies. Here are some potential fixes. I would try them in this order:

    1) Set MCH Strap to DRAM Ratio
    2) Set CPU VTT to 100-150mV
    3) Turn off XMP Profile
    4) If you have bios 73, try setting the very last memory option, "tRL" to +2
    5) Set DRAM Voltage to 1.65, and QPI PLL to 1.35
    6) Reseat your CPU ensuring that the pressure on the mobo is good, and the pins are not bent -- you can check the bottom of the CPU: Looking at the metal "plates" which make contact with the mobo pins will tell you if they are all centered, or if some are not centered. - THIS SEEMS TO BE THE MOST COMMON FIX.
    7) Reseat your RAM, and ensure that it is snapped into place properly.

I had the same issue with Ram missing. I had 3.00GB (1.99) usable. and out of that list that you posted, #6 was the one that worked for me.  thanks!

No problem. :) If it happens again, try easing up on the heatsink pressure. I had to do it twice to get mine to work properly...these are the woes with having an on-chip IMC... :p

Ever since one of the newer BIOSes came out this "DRAM ratio" setting seems to fix a lot of probs with missing RAM when ppls OC past a certain point. Older BIOSes didn't have this issue. Only thing I can figure is they tinkered with the "auto" latencies in the newer BIOSes, the obscure latencies that ppls don't mess with. They change when you set "DRAM ratio." I tried "DRAM ratio" once when I first built my computer hdwe, and it BSOD'd - I am running last Nov BIOS revision. I think I will tinker with it again and see what happens, since I RMAd a stick of RAM.
