Yeah, I don't think this Noctua left anything to discuss about what the best air cooling solution is... It clearly and openly beats Megahalems or TRUE or V10...

I don't know why I'm so happy to see this. I have the smaller Noctua NH-U12P and all my fans are Noctua, and I've been exremely pleased so far. Noctua has perfect designs for my taste and excellent build quality and top performing products. Still, I guess I'm a Noctua fanboy...

I have tried the IFX 14, True, Promliatech and have gotten very similar results temp-wise. I have been waiting for something that could show a little separation from the field, so this looks promising

It looks like the TRUE and Prolimatech has finnaly been beaten by a nice little margin! I want too!

Seriously what with their horrid paintjob on those fans?!

EDIT: Just in-case you guys were looking for them here's the linky.

Nice cooler, but I won't be able to use it. I have Corsair Dominator's, won't clear it, just guess I'll get the Megahalem Black and be happy.

I'd like to give congratulations to Noctua, but I'd also pray they offer fans in a color other than tan and fecal matter brown.

It also received Xbit Labs Editors choice award   Source

Obviously Noctua engineers paid attention to every single detail, every little trifle, which paid back big: their true work of art became the indisputably best cooling solution out there. That is why we are proud to award it with our Editor's Choice title as the best CPU air-cooler in the today's market

Hmm, I guess everyone is using the logic "Bigger is better" these days eh? haha. Just wait until we have cpu coolers that use 15 heat pipes and move the fins about 3 inches off the board before covering the entire top end half of the board requiring a retention mechanism to not break your motherboard in half!

Wish this would have released about 2 days ago, ordered a Megahalem and it's still not here yet lol. It does make me wonder what fans they used on the Megahalem though. We all know the difference a good fan can make with air coolers.

    O_O!!

I lol'd hard at the size (that's what she said)

Nevertheless, I'm probably going to recommend it to a few friends whom I built P55 FTW rigs for on Black Friday. According to the thermal performance chart, this HSF combination is a monster!

I've been running this off & on for about month. It's definitely a nice cooler but my number one choice and best temps is still the PM (with loud 38's). The ND-14 (with stock fans, much quieter) runs about the same as my PM. I still need more time with the NH-D14. I have an older Lian-Li and I had to cut up the ND-14 to fit in an east/west config on the 759. I'm pretty sure with the older case, it's effect the performance.

IMO: As for the mounting system on both the PM and NH-D14 are the best out there right now. Nice and tight and you can change a CPU in about 10mins and I really like the mother board backet for the NH-D14, it fits all three 1366, 1156 and 775...

    Here is some pix...

^^^on the left is the NH-D14. The right is a butchered IFX-14.

    ^^^poor IFX-14

^^^north & south config on the 759. No cutting, but no room for a second fan for me.

^^^east/west config on the 759. I had to chop the left bottom corner to fit in this config.
You can raise the fans as much as you case will allow.

I posted these 2 pix before.

Thanks for the pics , links, and legwork! Just curious, what method do you use when you chop a heatsink? I eyeballed my IFX 14 with evil intentions but couldn't decide on how I wanted to procede.  Metal snips? Dremel?

No prob ... Yup!! the Dremel. I used the really thin cutting wheel (part# 409)on the IFX-14... not a good choice because when/if the cutting wheel breaks , it bends the crap out of the fins, as you can see in the pic of the IFX-14. I usually use part# 426B and then clean it up with the #409. Just take you time and let the dremel do the work (light pressure).......

Thanks Tigzxx , you should see the bird's nest of wires when I run 2 PSU's. I did clean it up once ( it took forever) and then 20mins later I ripped it apart for some reason or another.....

Tigzxx very nice pic in you sig......

CKY2K, if you're still here, I'm curious to see how much exactly you cut off the NH-D14 and how.

Very nice, pricey but its worth it considering the performance and fans included. Only draw back is the size with tall memory heat spreaders. Kinda wish I still had my Mushkin kit again.

This is very similar to the Silver Arrow, however doesn't perform as well. I didn't realize this thread was that old lol. I actually thought this was a new product but then again, I'm not well versed in Noctua heatsinks compared to others.
