Was much easier than I expected. Flashed all three GPU's at the same time. The entire process requires 2 files can be run in Windows just using command window and only requires basic typing skills... Results: All you need is Nvflash http://www.techpowerup.co...1%20for%20Windows.html And this modified EVGA GTX 470 SC bios. Which will unlock the voltage to 1.212 http://www.overclock.net/...ng-modding-thread.html Thanks goes to chatch15117 for the modified BIOS. The link to the BIOS has been changed to the thread on OC.net as per the request of the author... Remember folks to back up your original BIOS and if you screw up and brick your cards you have lost your warranty.

boredgunner Now you've got to get your clock speeds through the roof. With the stock limits I was already running Vantage at 840...I should be able to hit 900...we'll see. I'll wait until this evening when the temps get down into the 50's and see what I come up with. Wish my newest SC+ had a lower stock vid...1.037 versus 0.950 for my other 2 SC's.

As long as his temps are fine. Sure his cards' long term lifespan is reduced even more than at 1087 mV, but it won't fry on the spot or anything. I need to get a new GPU cooler and I'll be past 1.2v too.

robhall86 how great is the potential for damage at that kind of voltage? depends on the cooling, the colder you get the card and vregs the better

Correct, as long as you have a good water block that cools VRM too and a good loop.

Nice job, thanks for posting this, seems easier than I originally expected. Can a vanilla 470 be flashed with the same unlocked bios? Assuming you don't brick your card, wouldn't the unlocked bios void the original warranty?

A point of clarification here, those higher voltages are just for bench runs. Running that high daily isn't advisable even with cooling.

Assuming you don't brick your card, wouldn't the unlocked bios void the original warranty? The card can be RMA'd as long as it has the original BIOS on it. You can't brick your card if you have another NVIDIA card lying around, many of us have old cards lying around.

Assuming you don't brick your card, wouldn't the unlocked bios void the original warranty? Yes you can flash a vanilla as well. However, it will not change your stock vid so your card may not be stable with the SC clocks with this BIOS. All this BIOS does is enable a higher voltage range for the SC's. All long as you save your original BIOS and flash it back, your warranty is still good. You might be better off locating a Vanilla unlocked BIOS. There might be one on Mvtech's site.

ajr23 may have to figure out how to flash the bios on my cards later tonight, have one card that i can run at 890mhz and this would help me break the 900mhz barrier since im voltage limited right now It's extremely simple. All you do is extract the contents of both files in a folder on your C drive. Say nvflash for example. So 1) Create nvflash folder on C drive 2) extract nvflash program files and BIOS rom file into the folder. 3) Using the Windows start button, type CMD in the search box and run CMD.exe or select run and type in CMD then click OK to open command Window. 4) At the command prompt, type CD\nvflash then press enter to change to the nvflash directory. 5) at the command prompt type nvflash -b <filename>.rom to back up your BIOS. <filename> being whatever you want to name it. 6) at the command prompt type nvflash OVEVGA470.rom press enter and follow the prompts. 7) Reboot for flash to take effect. It's that simple. If you wish you can use GPU-Z to back up your BIOS skipping step 5. However GPU-Z saves the file as a .bin file instead of the .rom file. Just rename the file with the .rom file extension and it will work fine. Edit....added BIOS backup directions and reboot.

yes disable sli and also make sure that they are all at stock speed and voltage, so far i have been able to push 860/1720/1950@1.150v in a tri sli vantage run and i am working up to a 940/1880/2000@1.162v on my good card in a single card run

Wow this looks very promsing, and i very much would love to do it, but i do have some concerns. So it looks like were all good with the Voiding warrenty situation as long as you put back the default bios for an RMA correct, no issues with this service being sucessful? Second boredgunner as for bricking a card as long as you have another NV gpu you can reload the bios into it via 2nd PCI-E slot using NVflash(dont know commands) im guessing? Lastly im a bit confused about this working on a vanilla will it work or is it just for SC 470s? I do have a bit of a high VID 1.050 but i was still able to hit 800mhz at 1.087 and with my case setup and room temps i dont ever hit 80c at highest MV and clocks so i would think im okay, should i have any concern about the high vid?
