Wow, haven't even looked for a new 780i bios in a year or more. Still on P07. I mosey on up to the stickies just for the hell of it & P09 is there! And it was 1st posted less than a week ago. Amazing timing. I'm extremely impressed, EVGA (or is it only nvidia's doing? -would like to credit EVGA...) EDIT: whoops, I thought I was in the 780 sticky; comments still apply.

Anyone getting better overclocks? My q9450 is only really happy at 1800fsb linked/synced but I haven't really pushed it. I have the RAM to push it if I want to, but 3.7 or 3.8 probably isn't much better than 3.6Ghz. I will upgrade to P09 in a day or two when I have a chance, been really happy and stable on P07, absolutely no problems.

I had to temporarily revert back to P07 as I discovered all OverClocks instantly crashing under IBT2.3 under P09 - wait! read further, don't judge the BIOS yet. It came up that all of them (1800 and 1866MHz) lost stability (same) under P07 ... my CPU must have degraded slightly since last month when i was stress testing it after infamous trouble with new NVIDIA driver (191.07 whql). also thing is that I run my 1800 or 1866 OC's daily 24/7 (like server) under Vista x64, probably killing chip's lifespan very fast LOL. planning to get system builders W7x64 after New Years Eve, so glad that this new BIOS improves OS compatibility for that system. I am in the process of re-stabilizing my OC's under P07, once done, I will get back to P09 and see if they hold (should as all looked good). P08 was crap for me. EDIT: my Q9450 formerly running fine @ 1800 with 1.39v vcore (in BIOS) now running 1.43V vcore and holding (quite a degradation it was) - i'm pretty sure that running 1866MHz with high ambient room temps (uncontrolled room heating on) took its part in damn degradation. for winter will have to stay on 1800, much safer.

OK, so this is the deal. I found P07 stable under IBT2.3 (20 max stress rounds, cpu temp max 71C) on my system with following settings: 1800MHz link-sync (3.6GHz) @ 1.425v vcore, 1.25v vtt, 1.50v spp, 1.55v mcp, 1.9v vdimm (8-8-8-22-2T) I found P09 stable under IBT2.3 (20 max stress rounds, cpu temp max 74C) on my system with following settings: 1800MHz link-sync (3.6GHz) @ 1.432v vcore, 1.25v vtt, 1.50v spp, 1.55v mcp, 1.9v vdimm (8-8-8-22-2T) the only difference was vcore 1 notch higher under P09. i tried raising vtt instead to 1.30V and keeping same vcore, but it failed after 6 rounds or so. for comparison under P08 I had to use 1.30V vtt and also vcore higher than under P07 plus I ended up with some random lock ups after all of that (perhaps SPP was not right back then due to SLI strain on mem controller which i wasn't aware of, not sure). In summary, i like this BIOS if it really fixes all the stuff mentioned in release notes (e.g. GPU compatibility). I will not try clocking my chip higher for daily use, but of course I will some time try shooting it into 2000MHz (p1p2 auto unfortunately due to SPP limitation on my board) for benching. good bios I would say, so far I like it! :)
