This BIOS is ONLY for the EVGA X58 SLI Classified Motherboard (part number 141-BL-E760-, 141-BL-E761- or 141-BL-E769-)

S61J Updates:
  • Added "Reserve RC for Bridge" - Enables resources for 5 VGA's.
  • Added High Precision Event Timer
  • Disables PS2 keyboard in device manager if no PS2 keyboard present
BIOS updating can be accomplished VIA the below methods:

CD/DVD Installation - Recommended installation method
  • Download the following .iso file: E760_S61J.iso
  • Use a CD Burning software to burn the .iso image onto a blank CD (Nero, Alochol 120%, MagicISO etc.)
  • After it has burned, insert CD and restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Now set the CD Drive as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select CD as the bootable device.
  • After flash remove the CD, and power off PC Completely.
  • Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS

USB FLOPPY Installation - Recommended installation method
  • Download the following executable: E760_S61J.exe
  • Insert blank floppy disk into drive and run executable
  • After the floppy has written fully, restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Now set the USB Floppy as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select USB Floppy as the bootable device
  • After flash remove the floppy, power off PC Completely
  • Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS

USB Flash Drive Installation - Alternate installation method
  • Download: E760S61J.bin
  • Visit this thread and follow the installation instructions. (thanks 30h6).

Warning:
**Do not restart or interrupt your PC while the flash is ongoing
**Do not Flash BIOS on overclocked settings
**It is always recommended to power-down after flash and Clear CMOS

    Lots of BIOS updates!!Nice!
I’m testing now. I was able to load saved over clock, no problems so far. Last BIOS update was a FAIL for me.

This is good news because I found that the last BIOS update actually reduced my Vantage scores a bit.

No good for me. Just like the last update this one won’t hold my clocks. If I turn the computer off for a while it loses my over clock. Back to S61B for me!

Here's what I think of your silly bios Jacob. Look what it did to my system.

I was able to get to 4.5 GHz on my over clock. Ran prime95 and LINX and passed with no problems. I ran MW2, LFD2, and Crysis(and a few others) with no issues. The problem I have had is that after I shut down my computer it will lose my over clocks. I’m not sure what the issue is, but I don’t have this problem with S61B.
If anyone has any ideas I would be glad to hear them.

The battery was the first thing I thought of.(not it) My power supply is rock solid. I haven’t had it happen once with S61B.

This BIOS update caused me to lose nearly 2,000 Vantage points. The only redeeming factor here is that Nvidia just released a new video card update which added 800 of those lost points back, but I'm still down almost 1,000 points. Very disappointed, especially after reading that some people are actually seeing increases in Vantage scores.

Everything else about the update went fine, no issues at all. I installed like usual. Cleared cmos, applied update, cleared cmos again, then applied all of my overclock settings.

The only disappointment is the loss of gpu performance. What's odd is my cpu score went up, but the gpu score went way down.

Shamino is correct that is why in the first post it says USB Floppy. You can find these listed on many e-tailer websites such as Newegg. The world is moving far away from floppy drives and USB sticks are far cheaper and easier to use if you wish to use that as an alternative.

Well, cpu core temps are the same before/after,  which is usually the only limiting factor for overclocking, so I'd be surprised if anyone is getting a higher overclock. Stability has never been an issue for me, just temps.

Overall, I think I may be the only one who is experiencing this, but I lost a lot of Vantage points with this BIOS update. In-game performance is the same though.

Enable HPET, and depending on what OS you've got go with 64 or 32.
    I'm running 4.2GHz 24/7 with HPET on 64-bit mode as I've got Windows 7 64 Pro.

Would Hpet solve weird BSOD issues on a system that passes 50 runs of LinX and 10 hours of Prime95 multiple times with no problem?

    Is Hpet disabled by default?

Just as an update guys, my rock solid 4.45GHz is now unstable with this BIOS update. I am in the process of running LinX to find a stable overclock again. So far, I have had to increase both VTT and VCore with all other settings being the same.

I am VERY close to reverting back to an older BIOS because this one is turning out to be junk in regards to performance for my system.

Where to find the bios archives versions?

BIOS archives are found on the support/download drivers page.

Setting HPET to 64 bit mode makes my overclock unstable as all hell. So I left it at 32 bit

    Anyone else experience this?

Can anyone tell me what exactly the HPET setting does? I can remember this setting was also on one of my older DFI boards, but haven't got a clue what it does.

I had to look it up myself.  I looked several places and this made the most sense to me.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HPET

"The HPET can produce periodic interrupts at a much higher resolution than the RTC and is often used to synchronize multimedia streams, providing smooth playback and reducing the need to use other timestamp calculations such as an x86 CPU's RDTSC instruction."

Found that one too, thanx. But I can't understand how it does make compddd's OC instable. That's why I asked what it does.
