  PART 1

here is the Download setup for 4 GPU folding clients

1. Download the Folder and place it anywhere in the window directory of your choice 4 GPU folder setup

2. Unzip the Folder using this Window Unzip program

3. click the client to start folding

4  configure you name in each of the folding folder

Note : make sure you use dummy plugs if you are using driver 191.07 or lower,

on driver 191.07 and above , no dummy plugs is required " unless you are using 295GTX ( single PCB )
then you must use dummy plug and can fold with SLi enabled or disabled

Also Team # 111065 , Flags , and Machine ID is already setup, just make sure that you changed your username on each folder,

otherwise you will be folding for me. LOL

***** thanks Lancelot737 for the help in the past, without him, I probably already QUIT and give up folding*****

FOR MISMATCHED CARD setup tips , please see here for more info http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=52967
******thanks Barbarossa for bringing that up, which I have forgotten to mention it on this Pre setup guide

****make sure you extended the desktop to those GFX in the window control panel,
otherwise you will get the message saying your driver/gpu is not supported

PART 2

here is the Download setup for delay startup

For delay auto startup program http://www.r2.com.au/soft...=2&show=startdelay

this program allowed you to setup your folding farm for automatic startup all your fah program. ( cpu client/Vm notfred, GPU clients, Evga Precision, lasso , HFM, fahmon , etc)

If you also set your mobo bio to restart after power failure, this program is handy when you are not home to restart the machine and the clients

I use this startup program for all my folding farms, ( in case I am not a home to restart the machine )

THANK YOU !!
I've tried everything the last couple days to get the 295's to fold.
All I was getting was half the card folding and the other half giving unstable machine errors.
I could bore you with all the details but instead I'll just say thanks to you and Horvat for his guide.
Horvat I know you'll read this so also accept my thanks.

I was curious wb. The files you have in the folders, were they started up on your machine so you could configure them and then turned them off and made copies of them?

WB, this is a very easy and neat setup.  Thank you!

I just have a couple questions, if I may?

First, you state that for 191.07 or later that dummy plugs are not needed.  I am not sure if you have seen some of my posts and struggles with the SLI enabled/disabled options?  But, it seems for me that with SLI disabled on 191.07, that I must have PhysX enabled to fold on both gpus.  The folding works somewhat with SLI enabled, but then I get driver stopped responding errors.  With SLI disabled and PhysX enabled those go away.  With 191.07, would a dummy plug on my secondary card give me any benefit?

Second, I see you do not have the -forcegpu nvidia_g80 flag in the configuration.  I currently have that flag on my GPU clients.  Is that flag not necessary?  Or, could that option be causing me problems?

yes just click the icon and it will start folding, and if you want you can make a shortcut and paste it in the startup folder, so next time you start the pc , it will automatically start the clients. ( i have startup delay program installed, so in case of power failure, and the pc restart and it will count down to start each clients, vm notfreds, fahmon, process lasso, and evga precsion, etc )

yes you can just copy and paste the folder onto any other folding machines and finish the setup. this is how i setup all my folding farms, so i don't have to set each one up indivdually.

I hope this answer you questions

on driver 191.07 you can fold without dummy plugs if you have SLI ENABLED. ( but i don't like sli enabled so i have dummy plugs )
plus i am using window xp64 on the folding farms , so i don't need dummy plugs, SLI, physX or any of that crap )

but i normally just installed the driver, and the physX is enabled by default and SLI is disabled by default, and plugged in the dummy plugs and restart the pc, then i would extended the desktop and start folding.

I don't use any -forcegpu nvidia_g80 flag on my setup, i don't see a need for it on my 200 series GFX, plus with the use of -forcegpu nvidia_g80 flag i still get EUE once in awhile on one of my farm ( testing the different flags combo ) and the rest of the farms WITHOUT the -forcegpu nvidia_g80 flag ( just -gpu 0 , -gpu 1 etc ) and still seeing the same results. same ppd, same EUE. so i just dont need it.

on vista i notices you need physx enabled to folded ( at least on mine ) otherwise i would get the instant UNSTABLE MACHINE BS. So I find Window XP worked better then vista or win 7 for any deciated folding farm, plus it use a little less memory and little faster responds.

i hope this help

Yes it does. Some chum head over at Stanford was trying to tell me that if you copy pre configured clients to another computer there could be problems with WU's not being credited because of the User ID that is assigned to each computer by the folding at home servers. When you first start the client and open the log file there is an entry right under your user name and team number that says User ID. That is specific to each indvidual computer. This came up when I was over there dropping my not so subtle hints, at this point, about our missing points.

Re:4 GPU folding Clients setup 2009/11/22 19:59:47 (permalink)
well that chum is WRONG, because each Folding Farm pulled in a different IP address. So the Machine ID only applied to each machine, and not another machine. This is a very easy setup. I also have 6 clients folder and 8 clients folder setup. I can post the Startup delay program if anyone is interested. GREAT little program, for auto startup features. So not all the things would startup all AT ONCE and freeze up the machine, and in case you are not home, no more worry about lost PPD , if the power was restored after the power loss.

Re:4 GPU folding Clients setup 2009/11/22 20:05:46 (permalink)
Here's what I ran into with my setup
2 gtx295's and a gtx275
plugged in 5 monitors 2 on each 295 and 1 on the 275.(1 main and 4 extended )
Windows 7 using drivers 190.62
Tried the gpu 1  flag and changed the gpu number for each instance
All that would work was 3 instances and the other 2 would give unstable machine errors
Tried it both with sli enabled and disabled. Didn't matter it still didn't work.
Installed driver 191.07
5 monitors still plugged in and sli disabled.
Same problem 3 would work 2 didn't.
added -force gpu nivida_g80 flags to all instances.
Still didn't work.
At this point I was really frustrated as I couldn't figure out why I could have all 5 monitors displaying the desktop and yet only 3 instances of folding.
Enabled SLI and physx and now all 5 are folding.
I still have all 5 monitors plugged in even though the control panel is only using 2
I'm just scared to unhook them.
I don't know if my monitors could have been the problem as 3 are hdmi and 2 are vga.(was I supposed to make dummy plugs?)
The two that are woking now 1 is hdmi and 1 vga.
I was nervous earlier today when I saw all 5 folding 1888 work orders but they all finshed fine.
Currently they're working their way through 4, 787's and 1, 384
It's been running stable now for over 24 hrs so I'm just keeping an eye on them and hoping I don't have anymore problems.

I am glad you have it working, and yes this physx and SLI crap drive me crazy too, because what i consider working on my machine, it doesn't mean it will on your. So that is why i have Win XP , and no need to worry about SLI , physx or dummy plugs.

Good Luck Broken!!

enabled sli, phsyx mode in NVIDIA control panel. then extended desktop in window control panel ( you should see 2 monitor )
restart the clients, it should start folding.

i still like using dummy plugs , i find it easiler than sli. ( i am old school )

It only shows 1 monitor and there is no option to extend.

Yup, 4 295's in Device Manager and yes I have the sli bridge. Does it matter where you plug in the DVI connector on the video card connectors?

If you can help me out it would be great. Not sure if the photos below will help. Thanks.
