Need some more information regarding this unit. Performance seems to be above spec according to certain testers, but I've also read a lot of complaints regarding reliability from consumers. If anyone has this unit I'd like to hear more about its reliability. Also, who manufactures the 850 P2 for EVGA?

I don't have this unit or an EVGA PSU, but SeaSonic is the company who makes the circuit boards for EVGA PSU's. They have been PSU makers for 41 years and they have a rep of making high quality PSU's. The problem I see with manufactors that use SeaSonic boards have to get them shipped in, so that is why I figure outside companies who use their boards have more failure or error rate because of the shipping and handling. It has to go from SeaSonic's manufactor building, to EVGA's building then to the consumer and in the process of adding that extra shipping factor, there is more chance for the boards to get damaged or have a higher chance of failure rate than getting the board or PSU sent directly from SeaSonic.

Thanks, chief. But I'm not sure I buy that. Fact is I read poor quality reviews about 850 G2's, Gs's and P2's. That's a lot of poor handling, if you ask me. But my problem is the price and performance are so good I'm inclined to take a risk. But I'd like some feedback from owners of this particular unit before I make a decision.

I have the 850 P2 in my rig and also in my wife's rig, both for over a year now. Have not had any issues whatsoever with either, both running smooth and stable. Fully modular, 10 year warranty, and the fan is surprisingly quiet. It has a semi-fanless eco mode, but I never use it. Previously I'd always used Corsair PSU's but decided to give these a try, and I have no regrets. Johnny Guru has a good review. The PSU is actually a SuperFlower I believe. I recommend.

Beautiful. So you have two examples which have been going strong.

And reading through the jonnyGURU review again it was mentioned that this is a Leadex platform which is a Superflower product. Missed that the first time I read it.

Pretty confident you'll be happy with it, assuming it has enough juice for your rig.

I have a 550 G2 in one build that's been going strong for over a year. I wouldn't get to hung up on reviews. Pick any psu on the market and you'll have bad reviews on it or people that had issues. It's the nature of tech. You have to look at the history of the product and which way the scales tip. In the G2, P2, T2 models, the scales tip overwhelmingly in the good. The fact that they slap 7-10 year warranties on them should speak to their reliability and at least provide some peace of mind.

I was taking them with a grain of salt, these reviews. That's why I'm here. The EVGA forums aren't Newegg or Amazon. On those sites the negative reviews were about 50% but they could have been made by anybody. I always do my homework. Too many times I was burned by positive reviews and too many times I missed out on great products by false negative reviews.
