Hello.
I just receive my 1070 SC ACX 3.0 black edition today.
I am on win 10 x64 with 32gb ddr4 on Gygabit Z170 UD3 and 6700K.
First, i install the last nvidia drivers 375.70 (EDIT ; Sorry, its 375 not 175 error when i write it). Second, i update the bios with your last 08G-P4-5173-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0 Black Edition - Primary BIOS (86.04.50.00.72)
After, i register the product and command thermal pads on your website.

But i have a problem... The card and fans are ok on the office. i work on different software, lightroom, word / outlook / no problems.

But if :
- I lunch Battlefield 3 for 5mn ingame ; fans go to the max speed !!! I stop the game, fans dont stop, they are to the max. I control temp ; she down to 28° (50° ingame) with speccy. I say ; oh what that, i lunch GPU monitoring widget : 28/29° but 0rpm for fans indicate. What ? 0rpm ? i stop this widget, i download EVGA PrecisionX ; its on auto for fans, i remove auto, and select 0% ; fans are always on max speed. I select 50% , fans are always at 100 % !!!
I reboot my computer but the fans speed down a little maybe 90% but dont come back to the silence ! I need full stop my computer. And relunch it ; Now fans are now ok with silence.

After that, i say, maybe it was a little problem, a bug ? I want test again. I lunch again Battlefield 3 for 15s ingame and exit ; fans go to the max speed !!! fans dont stop, they are to the max. I control temp, she is at 50° and down to 40, 30° ok... but fans are on max speed again ; I control again with GPU monitoring widget : 30° but 0rpm for fans indicate. i stop this widget, i download MSI afterburner and look the monitoring ; 0% fans. My fans work on max speed. I move on manualy and setting 50% ; but fans are always on the max speed. I uninstall MSI afterburner.
i shut down again my computer. And relunch it ; fans are again ok and with silence after this reboot.

I am on the office, fans speed is ok, its the silence. I lunch EVGA PrecisionX ; and remove auto Fan speed on the left. Fans speed of the card move on to the max speed !!! I select 0%, 50% and apply, but fans speed dont apply that and work to the max. Now i write you to know what the is that ? I need reboot my computer to have silence ! The problem come from your new Bios ? Or its the card need go back to EVGA to be inspected / setting / repear ?

i just test with lunch of AIDA64 Extrem , i lunch EVGA PrecisionX, and select manual speed fan to 40%, fans speed go to the max and AIDA64 Extrem indicate 0RPM (0%)

What the problem ? The card ? The new bios ? Its like there is no communication between software and the card for fans speed or no regulation, 0% or 100% and if 100%,
It does not fall except if i shutdown the computer.

Thx

#1 Remove GPU fan shroud and make sure the GPU fan cable is fully seated and secure to the GPU PCB fan header.

#2 Make sure the card is fully seated to the MB. Make sure the PCI-E power cables are fully seated and secure at the PSU side & GPU side.

#3 Uninstall all monitoring software. (Precision, Afterburner, Speedfan, HWMonitor, etc.)

#4 Perform a clean installation of the most recent video drivers:
    • Uninstall Precision X/MSI Afterburner if installed, make sure to select "no" to saving profiles if asked.  Reboot the PC now if you had to uninstall PX or Afterburner.
    • Use DDU (Display driver uninstaller) in safe mode to clean out all your nvidia drivers. Use the clean and restart (highly recommended) option.
    • Download & save the most recent graphics driver to your desktop. You can find the most recent graphics driver here.
    • Run the graphics installer located on your desktop once the download is complete.
    • Select custom advanced install, under custom installation options uncheck all options except graphics driver & physx system software, if you have a 3D capable monitor and would like to use 3D at some point please select both 3D options, check mark perform clean install, then click next to install the driver, reboot when asked.
If you're still having problems after performing steps 1-4 RMA the card as the fan controller on the GPU has a problem.

Ok. I have do it. All... You want the solution ? i will give you. Congratulations EVGA, if i would have the choice, i will not buy your graphic card.
==> Uninstall all software monitoring. Check
==> shutdown computer after lunch DDU in safe mode option. Chek
==> Remove graphic card / remove all cables (3) / reinstall all cables (3) and reinstall the graphic card in the computer.
==> Turn on computer, and clean all nvidia drivers in safe mode with DDU. Reboot computer.
==> Install last drivers, only graphics drivers and Physx system.
    ==> Reboot computer.
Now, its time to test again. I lunch battlefield 3 ; fans speed are ok. I enter in a game, in 10s fans go to the max speed !!!!! I play 15s and exit the game. On the windows office, i wait 2mn, fan speed dont down, they stay to the max. Same problem. Your solution dont work. I say to me ; ok what i do ? I do a RMA like want Sajin ? Or i try another solution. I choose another solution ; remove your last BIOS, 08G-P4-5173-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0 Black Edition - Primary BIOS (86.04.50.00.72) with the installation of the previous that we can found here

I donwload the exe file from EVGA server, i lunch it, card is correctly flashed. I reboot my computer.

Now, i lunch again battlefield 3 i enter in a game. And what ? No 100% fan speed. Uhmmm ? I continue to play 15mn. Same, fans are silent. Well, now i want to see if informations about the speed fans is able or not like with your last bios.

With your last bios 86.04.50.00.72 :

With your previous bios Bios 86.04.26.00.70 :

Informations about the RPM and % of fans speed are now available. Just the t° go to 70-75° ingame in battlefield 3 but fans speed dont go to 100% like before with the last bios.

Conclusion ; your last bios from your topic << Update 11/4/16 with NEW BIOS - EVGA GeForce GTX 1080/1070 PWM Operating Temperature Update >> dont work correctly with my 08G-P4-5173-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0 Black Edition ... Now, i will wait your thermal pads, install them and wait your release a new bios. In time, i will think in the next 6h what i do ; ask give me back my money to the seller tomorrow and send back your graphic card to buy another (KFA² or MSI) or stay with it and wait your dev team work to a new bios to correct the bug and work in this time with MSI afterburner to correct the line of fans speed for differents points of t°.

But... ingame, with the previous bios, we see the fan speed at 22% and TEMP at 70°. Ok. If i want change that, i download and install MSI afterburner, i setting my line like that and i apply :

And immediatly, fan speed go to 100% but we dont see it in monitoring ... I shutdown the computer and lunch again. Fan speed silent, but as MSI A. run at startup, when i enter in session, fan speed go to 100% again.

Its like if the monitoring software cant regulate the fan speed; its 100% or nothing if i uninstall them.

I uninstall MSI afterburner to have not the 100% speed fan, i shutdown the computer and restart. Fan speed is ok, the card is silent. I lunch BF3, for 3mn fan speed is silent and quickly, fan speed go to the max speed. I quit BF3 and return to windows. I lunch GPU-Z and look that :

0 RPM, 0% fan speed... and they work at 100% ... need to shutdown the computer to stop them.

EDIT ; i use Display driver uninstaller in safe mode to clean out all my nvidia drivers 175.70 and install 373.06 and reboot ; same, the card is silent and when i play to BF3, after 15-30s, fan speed go to the max speed. And when i quit my game and come back to the windows office, the speed dont down even after 5mn.

    Hi
I dont know if it can help but i found this :

Have the same issue, tried two different cards. Tech support thinks it may be a conflict with certain MSI motherboards. They've didn't have a resolution and escalated my case. I implore anyone also having this issue to also call tech support (812-282-2787) so they can pin down issue and raise awareness to increase priority for their engineers to address.

I can also confirm after a few days waiting for shipping that plugging in a 4pin fan into the graphic card for FanConnect is a valid workaround. Fan speeds now recognized, adjustable, and no longer get stuck on max rpm.

    From here:

Maybe the problem dont come from the Tachometer or the bios but could come from a conflict with my Motherboards ? I have a GIGABYT GA-Z170X-UD3 (rev. 1.0)

Hello. An update if it can help anyone.

Well sorry but I am stubborn. Despite the acceptance to return the card, I asked to family a close permission to take their PC into guinea pigs. I turned its graphics card and put the 1070 SC Black Edition instead of the ATI 5070 ... I installed the latest drivers and launched futurmak.  Prime very interesting results:

    1) The RPM /% of cooler are provided to GPU-Z
    2) When the load increases, the ventilos increase their speed but do not go up to 100% as on my pc gamer. And when it's over, the ventilos back to normal.

    1080 :

    4k :

But as I am a skeptic by nature, I'm DL BF3 on pc to confirm these results.   What changes?
The pc where this problem (Fan 100% live when I start a game and never back down except extinction pc)
    ==> Win 10 x64 business
==> Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-UD3 (rev. 1.0) with the latest bios (not the beta that will accept future kaby lake) with i7-6700K and 32GB DDR4 of 2x16 in

    The PC where it works:
    ==> Win 7 x64 integral
==> Motherboard MSI P45-B75MA (with Pentium G620 and 4GB of ram)

    - In the "old" PC with MSI motherboard, everything works, fans never mounted 100% in stresstest or in BF3. And they are well adapted to temperature and coming back down well.
    [Img] [/ img]

    - On the new, I followed the advice GingerBread Monster from the French forum hardware.fr ; even if the GA-Z170X-UD3 is new and I have nothing set in, I made a stinging clearbios a jumper after remove the CR232 ... install again the 1070 SC black edition. Stress test conducted by 4k does not exceed the 68 ° and not more than 50% speed fan ... Relaunched BF3 and again everything is good:
    [Img] [/ img]

It was the NEW motherboard that was the problem of the graphics card fan o ... Why i dont know, but it was the new motherboard ! ... I hope my tests will help people will have same problem.

EVGA, My apologies for thinking that your equipment was DEFECTIVE, luckily I have not returned the card as suggested.

    Hello super_newbie_pro,

Thank you for letting us know you were able to  find the problem. I agree it's unusual this problem occurs on one motherboard and not the other. I'll be responding to your e-mail with some more suggestions.

Wait so clearing the bios fixed the problem? That's interesting.
