I just upgraded to a 4K G-Sync monitor and was looking to see how I could squeeze out as much performance from my 1080 as possible. I have EVGA PrecisionX installed, but have never done any type of overclocking with a GPU before, or with this software, so I'm not familiar with the best practices.

If anyone has a setup that they've noticed is stable, I'd love to try it out. I think I saw Digital Foundry saying the MSI 1080 overclock was good enough by just setting the memory clock offset. They did talk about doing the GPU clock offset as well, but said they were happy with the increase from just the memory clock increase.

So if anyone has put in time to tinker with theirs and found a nice sweet spot, I would love to hear about your experience with it.

Every card will be different.  You won't gain much just from memory.

Just increase in small increments and test.  If you start crashing then back down.

I saw someone else have the Power Target and Temp Target cranked up to max. I assume that is advised before starting to test OC settings?
Should I try increasing the GPU Clock setting first? or the Memory Clock first?
Any need to tweak the voltage meter? And what(s) tool do you suggest for testing?

I wouldn't mess with voltage unless you have really good airflow in your case or are water cooling.

Yes, setting power target and temp target will help.  You just set specific target before your video card will start to throttle down.

I started with gpu clock and went up.  Once I started getting crashes I gradually backed down slightly until I was stable.

Same with memory until I saw artifacts  (graphical anomalies)

You can use EVGA's Precision XOC to manage your video card and monitor temperatures.

I ended up with GPU+175 and Memory+450.
