New leaks about the 1080ti. Seems more reliable this time.

I think there has been a lot of doubt, but now we know that NVidia will never mind cutting the throat of their Titan line up.

I'd never think NVidia would be so rude as to sell a $1,200 Titan XP card, and then put out a 1080Ti soon after that has almost the same specs but for for (likely) ~30% less cost. But then they already did that with the Titan X and 980Ti, in the process taking a big dump over all those who had thrown the most money at them.

I am right on the verge of buying a Titan XP after reaching a 3rd RMA with the 1080 Hybrid and finally deciding I'll take a refund instead.

Now I don't know what to do - stick with my 980Ti and wait for a 1080Ti that may never happen (or not with quite as awesome specs as wccftech claims), or just bite the bullet and go for the Titan XP now.

I really didn't think they would even though I was hoping they did. I was right in the fact that it would be at the same performance level as the Titan but cheaper which in a way doesn't make sense but I guess that is how they justify cornering the market on the Titan.

Well you can wait 3 months and hope you get a sub par 1080 ti or wait even more and get a 1080 ti ftw or classified but there will be serious demand for these cards.

Uhh yeah... you deleted the rest of my post when you quoted it... the rest of that paragraph said, "..But then they already did that with the Titan X and 980Ti, in the process taking a big dump over all those who had thrown the most money at them."  ..so uh, yeah.. already said that.

Why are some people so insistent that NVidia will not put out a 1080Ti? My question would be why wouldn't they?

They would/will, because Nvidia knows a lot of these peeps with 1080s will go and upgrade (and buy) new cards "again" for the extra power.

I upgraded from a 980 Ti to the 1080 and will probably do it again for the 1080 Ti. I hadn't planned on getting the 1080 and initially scoffed at the idea too. For me there's a huge difference in minimum FPS in F1 2016, my main game, from my 980 Ti @ 1450mhz vs. the 1080 @ 2076mhz. The 980 Ti was 70 FPS minimum and 1080 is 86 FPS minimum. I play at 1440p 144Hz and it's noticeable. For some people the upgrade to the 1080 Ti from 1080 may be worth it. We'll see.

How did you manage $600 each???  I want!!!!

Nvidia made an error in my favor.

No, I'm not giving out the details.

I'd never think NVidia would be so rude as to sell a $1,200 Titan XP card, and then put out a 1080Ti soon after that has almost the same specs but for for (likely) ~30% less cost.

The did it last time with the 980ti.

Uhh yeah... you deleted the rest of my post when you quoted it... the rest of that paragraph said, "..But then they already did that with the Titan X and 980Ti, in the process taking a big dump over all those who had thrown the most money at them."  ..so uh, yeah.. already said that.

He probably did what I myself have a bad habit of, reading only the first few sentences and then "Shoot-Fire-Aim" instead of "Aim-Shoot-Fire" being first.

I honestly don't expect Nvidia to make everyone that bought a Titan X for $1200 mad by releasing a GTX 1080 TI for $800 that does almost exactly what the Titan X does. If I were Nvidia, I would keep the clock speed of the 1080 TI the same as the Titan X, have fewer cores, and have less memory at least. I also would use 2 6 pin connectors instead of the 8 + 6 pin that the Titan X has just to "retard" it enough to make it more feasible and to keep sales of the Titan X up. Also, to reduce its sales and keep Titan X sales, I would limit modifications to the PCB or even make it so that Nvidia is the only one selling it. Remember, Nvidia wants to sell Titan X cards because they make more money that way, why would they release a card that competes with it so directly for so cheep UNLESS AMD releases a card that competes with it just as directly.

Yeah this would be worse than titan x vs 980 ti since it was 12 gb for 6 gb lol. however titan xp cam out 5 months sooner than 1/2017 so we pay 200-300 more or so i am sure the 1080 ti will be $900 and probably $950 or more for classified version. there will also be a mega demand and they will be hard to get especially ftw and classified ones.

I agree with this, if anything nvidia has a stock pile of failed Titan X's that didn't make the cut. It makes profitable sense to scale them down into a 1080 Ti at a reduce price.

New leaks about the 1080ti. Seems more reliable this time.

    http://wccftech.com/nvidi...080-ti-launch-january/

Nope.  WCCFTECH retracted the article stating that it now appears the leaked specs are most likely fake.  Case in point - why would Nvidia use GDDR5 and not GDDR5X if they are supposedly going to use defective Titan GPUs?  The Titan GPU has an embedded GDDR5X memory controller...

Here's my more realistic prediction of what the GTX1080Ti specs will look like:

Stock clocks for the GPU and memory will be similar to stock GTX1080
    8GB GDDR5X
    384-bit memory bus
    3072 Shader units
    225W TDP
    Price:  $850-900

What are you talking about?  This new 'rumor' shows GDDR5X memory on the Ti and was released yesterday.  Did you read the new article or assume it was the previous one based on a Reddit post?
