I was poking around Steam and bought System Shock 2. I also bought Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six "Gold Pack" (comes with Eagle Watch expansion, and strategy guide) from Ebay.

Too bad there isnt enough support for older games or you gotta pay for "HDQHD4k Remake!11". And it still doesnt work like it should. I would play more older games if got one XP running pc.

Absolutely not. Way too many good games constantly being released on PC to fart around with games that old.

Was playing LOTR BFME1 and 2 with a friend a while ago. They're still good games. Too bad EA won't Make an HD out of them.

Shish , I would be happy if I could get Mafia 2 to run w/PhysX on in 4K . 2K thinks it's just stretching the engine too far . It can do 4K , but w/o any PhysX turned on . 1440 is the max it will run with PhysX . Anyways they gave me a steam key to Bio shock 1 , so I can get the free upgrade . Just had to send a picture of the retail disc & box . It purrs along just fine in 4K . I got a lot of games older from GOG (including the Leisure Suit Larry series) . TaleTale games just loves abandoning it's older games . Fortunately there is a fix to run the older Sam & Max series on steam . Old games rule (and cheaper) !

I'm not a fan of paying to beta test new releases for the first 6 months of a game title. I've found much more fun in playing 1-2 year old titles where you know what you're actually getting vs throwing money at the hype machine.

Yes!! I still play plenty of my old games..... in fact I have my old NES hooked up in the living room for the kids when they come over but every once in a blue moon ill get silly and get on there and play a couple games. I find the barebones, down to the absolute necessities of it pretty fun sometimes. On PC I put the NWN games back on, empire earth and painkiller. If a lot of the old games had a graphics overhaul they would blow a lot of the newer games out of the water today just on story telling alone, imo.

Day of the Tentacle was just remastered this year.  That is a great title and well worth the cost at GoG

I also go back and Play Tie Fighter and have tons of fun with that game.  The gameplay and soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. =)

I was driving around today (for work) and I drove by a place called "Retro Games Plus". I did a quick google search once I reached my destination and found one closer to my home. I stopped in and saw a ton of console games mostly old, some new. A lot of old PC games (Delta Force by NovaLogic), many in jewel cases. I didn't have time to look through them all but I'll definitely stop in there again. They also had Atari games, Lego and general game merchandise (like a Fallout PipBoy).

There is also a Game Exchange in my town but I never stopped in. I'll see if I could stop there on lunch tomorrow.

Do you have the HD edition with Baldur's gate? I would like to get that one, but I don't find $20 for it worth while. It should be $10.

I actually have the old box somewhere with all the cd's and Sword coast expansion pack. I like the game a lot so I also have the HD edition on steam aswell (it was 75% off when I got it on steam)

Rainbow Six works, somewhat. All the menus work, you can change many options. It looks to be stuck at 640x480. I have it set to run in compatibility mode for Windows 98/Me.
I'll have to look online and see what other people have done to make it run better.

stalinx20Do you have the HD edition with Baldur's gate? I would like to get that one, but I don't find $20 for it worth while. It should be $10.

I actually have the old box somewhere with all the cd's and Sword coast expansion pack. I like the game a lot so I also have the HD edition on steam aswell (it was 75% off when I got it on steam)

    How is the multiplayer?

Honestly I haven't played the steam version multiplayer in a long time. Last time I played it there were a ton of bugs that were making multiplayer a bit of a turnoff, but supposedly a lot of it has been fixed now.
"Back in the days" I played with my friends a ton but I don't think any of them play bg any longer, everybody just magically got jobs, wives and kids and left me hanging!

Yeah, that's going to happen, unfortunately. Search for a lady/future wife who likes to game  and it's a win/win for you . I got lucky with mine.

If you're ever up to play baldars gate, send me a pm.
