A number of things can cause this. First of all are you overclocking the ram? Has it worked previously? Go back into the BIOs first and make sure that the manufacturer's recommended settings and voltage are followed.

I had overcloekd it up by 36 mhz as I'm running the mushkin redlines. I'm currently using the XMP profile. should I disable that and manually set the timmings? I'm running my ram now @ 1536Mhz. @ 1.65V

My Mushkins did not like 1.65, DimV, but work well at 1.60, I'm running 1648 with a 2:8 and 206 clock. +200 Vtt.

most likely bent pins. i had this issue with a gigabyte board (but it can happen to all brands of motherboards) and had it returend immediately. 9/10 times it's the motherboard.

Interesting... thanks for linking that post, strange that a pin would bend without me touching the socket or cpu and stranger that a slot would just crap out.... hmmm

Welll I decided since nothing I tried was working to try memtest.... 2 of 3 sticks passed....and one stick...well when I'd boot the system it'd shut down about 8 seconds after power on before the system posts and reboot.... I say its a bad stick.... :-(

Sad part about it is... I've had this ram less than a month *Ordered from the egg on the 25th of feb.* and even worse is I bought this ram to replace some bad Corsair ram and to tide me over while I went through RMA.... buuuuut..... now this ram has failed me too.... and much faster than my corsair....

To make things more interesting.... Both kits failed shortly after I did bios updates to my mobo....

I'm not putting the blame on evga or anything...but it is beginning to make me wonder...

I think you will find that this is a issue that many people face with this motherboard.  Just Google" X-58 Classified 3.99gb usable, and you will find many, many post's about people having this problem.  It seems to be related to just Evga X-58 boards only.  I don't recall seeing any Asus, Gigabyte or any other boards having this problem.  Strange thing is that some people don't have any problems.  I know I do have this issue, check out this link.  http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=231695&mpage=1#240308


My issue is that when I first turn on the PC, only shows 3.99gb available in windows AND the bios, so its not a windows issue, at least for me anyway.  As soon as I power up, and then off, I then power back up and all 6gb shows available.  Now, this is with stock settings.  Things get really weird when I over clock.  Sometimes it works right, sometimes it doesn't.


Just for the heck of it, reset your cmos and use all defaults, then power off completely.  Now power it back up and see if all your ram shows up.  There seems to be two different issues, the one that I am having, and other people cant get all the ram to show up no matter what they do.  I have tried increasing the vtt voltage and that didn't do anything.  Plain and simple, Evga needs to fix this issue.  Its not our ram, there are way to many people having this issue for it be be memory related.  Now, maybe there is a manufacturing defect in the motherboards.  Who knows, but I wish I could get it fixed.  I am thinking about posting a thread asking Evga to investigate this issue.  I'm sure they know about it, but they just don't seem like the want to do anything about it.

Well I gave it a shot and reseated my cpu and ram several times each.... No such luck XD

Its either the RAM, which I think is most likely..... The board, which hey it could happen I guess.....*Even though glancing over all the pins under an LED flashlight showed now bent or obstructed pins. And I blew the entire system and all components out with compressed air* ....Or the cpu which I seriously doubt...XD

Idk..... I have my old corsair ram on its way back and it should be in shortly.... I'll probably call newegg tomorrow and get this mushkin swaped for the Gskill tridents....

We'll see what happens.... Either way this is very frustrating...

Well I already tested them each 1 at a time in slot 1 and one sticks fails to boot the system...so I'm pretty sure its bad ram... I guess I'll know for sure when the corsair gets here. XD

Hi low sound?

I have a 759 classified and have never experienced this hi/low sound you're talking about.

So removed the 'bad stick' and reformated my windows and was installing drivers and programs... the noticed now I apparently have 4.00gb installed with only 1.99gb usuable....****?!?

Is this my board or cpu ?!?!?!?1
