Hi there,

A couple of weeks ago I bought the EVGA 750 W bronze PSU. Last night I ordered the EVGA 770 GTX SC card. Just now im reading it needs 30 Amps, but my new PSU only does 25 Amps!!

Do I really have to buy another PSU, or will its be fine? Anyone an idea?

Thanks,

Donna.

You may want to check the psu sticker. You should look at the psu sticker. What is your part number?  if it is a 120-PB-0750-KR, you should see +12V1@20A, +12V2@20A, +12V3@20A, [link=mailto:+12V4@20A]+12V4@20. For a total of 60a, more than enough for this card.

30 Amps for the whole system on the 12v.

    Welcome to the forums.

The total power draw of GTX 760 SC (Details) can be 170W (14.2 amps @ 12V)..The card can get 75W (6.25 amps @ 12V) from the 6-pin PCIe supplemental power connector, 150W (12.5 amps @ 12V) from the 8-pin PCIe supplemental power connector, and 75W (6.25 amps @ 12V) from the PCIe slot itself..A total of 300W (25 amps @ 12V) is available to the card from the PCIe supplemental power connectors and the PCIe slot combined per the PCIe v2.0 300W specification.

The 14.2 amp total card draw minus the 6.25 amps available from the PCIe slot equals 8 amps neccessary from the PCIe supplemental power connectors.

The NEX750B Bronze PSU (which is manufactured by FSP Group, by the way) has 20A on each of the four 12V rails.

The 500W 30A minimum system power requirement is based on a mid-range PC configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2GHz processor..The 30A recommended on the 12V rail is for your whole system, not just the graphics card.

You can estimate your total system wattage requirements here.

The short answer is yes, you're good to go, as stated in the posts above.

Now, a word of advice/warning..You should update your motherboard BIOS to the latest version available from your motherboard manufacturers support website before you put the 760 in..Depending on your motherboard, it may not work with the GTX 760 unless the BIOS is updated..Some motherboards will just not work at all with newer graphics cards, no matter what, period.

Hello Donna and Welcome to EVGA Forums

is your card a gtx 760 or a gtx770? i did not quite understood cause this thread title says GTX760 and your post mentions the GTX 770.

either way is like this ( in  this case your Power Supply is a multi rail system that distributes the Amps per FOUR 12V rails):

    a gtx760 needs 170W therefore it needs at least a solid 15Amps on the +12V rail to avoid problems like lack of Wattage.  -> POWER = 12volt x 15amps = 180W  (enough for a GTX760) carefull if OC'ing!

Your psu has a 20Amps distribution per each of the 4x +12V rails so you should be fine.

and as bob16314 said in previous post the minimum 30Amps requirement EVGA asks is for a COMPLETE pc set up to run with a GTX760 >> CPU +RAM + GPU + fans... etc.. etc.. etc..
and yes! as he said you must update your motherboard BIOS ( if possible).

the values i just told you above (15Amps) is the minimum solid value you need JUST for your graphics card to RUN with no issue.

    hope you understood.

    Cheers!
