Hello

I've owned the following now for a month or so and just had some questions/findings with a couple of games i'm playing:

http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16814130932
335.23 drivers(stable in all games)
I have v-sync, triple buffering, enabled in global and power management mode prefer maximum performance

Heres the rest of my build:
Asus Sabertooth Z77 lastest bios
8 gb Corsair Vengance
i7 3770k not oc'd
pc power and cooling 850
Intel ssd
Soundblaster Z
Dual Acer Monitors 1600x900

Running windows 7 sp1, bare minimum of programs running in the background.

Everything is running nice and cool while gaming, well within tolerances.

The two games I've played pretty steady are Rift and TESO, both games I have everything on high in the graphic settings.

I've been watching my fps, for the most part they both stay at a steady 60 fps which is great but there are certain areas in both games where the fps starts to drop down in the 40's. I realize that it depends on whats going on, on the screen, but I would think that this system would run at a steady 60 fps no matter what, especially at this resolution.

So is this normal for this card/system or would I need to start overclocking the processor and card to gain fps? I really don't want to oc as I've never done it and wouldn't really have a clue what I was doing lol.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

It's normal for even a high end card like a 780 or Titan to dip down at points. This is why most reviews you'll see list an average framerate for video cards. Running two 760s in SLI @ 2560x1440, in Unigine Valley I dip as low as 20 FPS, and peak around 90 FPS, and average just below 60 FPS.

Yeah, I'd say that's about normal for that card. My card's equal to yours stock vs stock and I get around the same fps on that res.

While playing a game there are going to be specific parts which pull more FPS than others. This depends on how the game was coded as well.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Okay, thanks, was just checking. I'm really happy with the card though. Like I said it runs very cool and very quiet also.  Both those game are just jaw dropping beautiful, in their own ways, on the high settings.

People have told me to overclock my processor as it supposedly helps in these mmo's. I've looked at various guides but I chicken out lol

The best solution is to quit watching your fps and just enjoy the games

    MSI Z590-A / I5-11400 / 32 Gig Corsair Vengeance RAM / MSI 1660 TI / Viotek GNV32DB monitor / Samsung 970 EVO 500Gb / Seasonic Focus 750 Gold / Saitek Eclipse II keyboard / Samsung DVD Burner / Phanteks Enthoo Pro case / Windows 11 / Nothing overclocked
