I've been noticing some fan chatter from my 770, I ordered some oil for it, but when I tried it out on my 750, I noticed that the usually rubber cap on the back was hard plastic.  Is this the same on the 770 or should I just get a replacement?

I'd suggest looking into a replacement before doing something that might void your warranty. I believe someone from EVGA already advised you to contact support.
