Aren't the processors already supported on this board the 4th Generation Intel Core Processors? Are we talking about more of them or is this a type-o?

I updated my BIOS to 1.08 and for some reason it won't post with my RAM in XMP Profile 1. Sets ram to 2666. It worked with 1.06, just don't understand why it wouldn't work now...

Same issue here. Anyone found a solution? It seems manually tweaking some of the settings (dropping target speed to 2400 for example) at least got it out of the bootloop, but honestly doesn't that rather defeat the point of having an XMP?

Switching to 2nd BIOS while I research.

Add another to the list where it fails to boot with xmp1 profile selected. Corsair Dominator Platinum 2666.

Still curious about the most stable and overall best BIOS for the z87 Classified. I currently have the 1.08 bios installed, but when I have my GPUs on the LN2 bios, it gives direct x failures constantly.

If I switch the cards to the Normal Bios, I do not get the failure

Does the new 1.08 version of BIOS support the soon to be shipping i7 4790K processor?

I'm helping a friend build out a new rig around the Z87 Classified motherboard.

I'd like to give him the "best bang for the buck".

Thanks in advance for your response.

    Cheers!

    Ok... Paranoid mode On...

Amazon's pre-order info says that the i7-4790K is NOT compatible with Z87 or Intel Motherboards.

I recall reading that it IS compatible with 'select' Z87 motherboards.

So the question remains... Does the V1.08 BIOS update for Z87 Classified support the i7-4790K?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Hehe, you double posted. Jacob said supported above our latest posts. It may be one more Bios update if not already. No matter what Amazon says, Intel has put out that the z87 manufacturers can apply a firmware update and it will work. If Jacob says it will be supported, then I will trust it.

In Jacob we trust... All others pay cache! (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun!)

I sincerely appreciate the rapid confirmation... I should know better than trust Amazon as a source for technical prowess.

Pre-ordering a i7-4790K on behalf of my friend first thing tomorrow.

    Thanks to all respondents.

    P. S. Begging 1000 pardons for the double post.... The equivalent to electronic shuddering. :)

Re: EVGA Z87 Classified BIOS 1.08 Released 2014/09/09 14:58:16 (permalink)
    Heya.

I have TWO identical Systems (Z87 Classified with 4790K CPU, 16GB Patriot DDR3 @2133@1.5V), but I only have Problems with this Bios.  Both Systems are getting unstable, if you reboot the System even once! So my 3D-Performance drops from 360+FPS to 20FPS. After 3-4 Reboots in a row, i'll get "Error-Code D6".

If you push the PCH Voltage (1.05) up, it helps a lil bit... but this isnt a Solution (PCH Voltage up to 1.15 Volt @24/7) -_-

In my Opinion it is unlikely that BOTH Systems are broken! I can reproduce this "Reboot-Error-Slow-3D-Performance-Problem" all the time.

Changed my GFX, RAM, Power Supply, HDD... didnt help! It's my Z87 Classified Rev. 1.0 i guess :I

Jacob, please! We need a new (stable!) Bios.

Bios 1.09 was release 9 Oct. 14 and no mention here?

I have fond memories of the support and community a couple of years ago for the P55 FTW 200. I recall step by step bios photos.
Am I becoming one of those old people living in the past, or is it really turning bad?

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean that people aren't out to get you!

Re: EVGA Z87 Classified BIOS 1.08 Released 2015/05/01 08:16:56 (permalink)
My Z87 Classified shipped with 1.05 and I have a 4790K.  It doesn't want to post, but I can get it to every once in a while.  I believe this is due to the 4790K not being supported in 1.05...???

From within the board's UEFI, I couldn't find a way to update the firmware to 1.09.  Am I supposed to use the USB Flash installation and boot to the USB Drive?  When I do that, should running update.bat work from there?

I like to tinker, but for some reason I couldn't figure this out, and not getting it to post very often is making this time consuming.  Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

If it doesn't post because of the new cpu, updating from DOS (stick or CD)  will not work.
You will need an older cpu,  update,  and only then install the new cpu.
Best bet is to take it to a local pc shop and see if they can help you out, if you don't have one laying around.

BTW tge newest Bios is 109.

My z87 classified is on its way, assuming it won't come with bios that supports 4790k; can I use a G3240 to boot it? this exact processor is not listed in the list though 3258 is there which is nearly same.

    Z87 Classified SSD help please.
Currently running a Samsung 840 EVO 2.5" ssd as my primary OS drive. (windows7 pro 64bit).
I am trying to install a Samsung 840 EVO mSATA into the mSATA/PCI  on my MB.
I would like to migrate the OS from the 2.5" to the mSATA and make that my primary drive.
I have set the port from PCI to mSATA in the bios, but the drive is not recognized.
Am I missing some other setting?
Has anyone else had any trouble with mSATA SSD's and this board?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
