Avast there ye Scurvy dogs!!! Thar be points out there to be pillage and cures to be found!!! Now put down those flagons of Rum and get yon systems busy! This will be a trial run of my idea detailed below In short I just want do projects and have fun. But my fun is tied to the rankings as a team then my ranking in the team. Not as a way to say I am better than any one else, on or off the team, but as a way to say I took the time to run the project and amassed the points/rank in a attempt to help make a discovery or a cure. Chances are no breakthrough will be made, as we all know, but the effort was put forth.
In the same view of things I would like to see the team work together and try to get our team ranks in the top 75 for all the projects, then the top 50 or 25 or 10. Not as a bragging right but as a representation of our work in pursuit of discoveries. Should we aim for each and every project, probably not. But we could pick out 5 or so in each sub group(Medical, Mathematics, Astronomy, etc) and work on them until we hit a goal.
I suggested MM simply because it is not one of the more popular projects and we could make a quick impact and thus bring our rank up a lot faster than other projects. If people found it to be fun we could do something a bit more challenging the next time.
With that idea in mind here is what I propose. We as a team run Mind Modeling from March 16th through to the end of the month and see just were we end up with our team ranking for the project. With the hardware our team members have on hand I suspect we can blow past 50 and probably get close to 25 or better. In the last week a few of us have already made a big change in our team rank. We started out at 194 and now are ranked 86 as a team. If everyone has fun and we make a large improvement in our team rank we can look to do this again only planed and executed a bit better. Now for the theme. We have the EVGA Strike Force that shows up when called and they help out with Folding@Home and Crunching projects. While this Point Pillaging idea is similar there is a difference. I see the Pirates only making a appearance four to six times a year with the goal of improving the teams ranks in a Boinc project that we tend not to pay much attention to. Just what projects can be decided by the team as a whole. It has been suggested we focus on projects tracked by the DC Vault. Guess it would help if I added in the MindModeling@Home web page. http://mindmodeling.org/

Oh, I like it. Maybe have a few variations. I think one with a full skeleton with a sexy pirate babe hanging off each arm would be neat.

I've switched over to MM, finishing a group of tasks from another project that were downloaded before the PrimeGrid challenge, as well.... 8 threads at 4.4 ghz ready to go!

We as a team have made it to 61 in the team rankings. Assuming no one else joins in and we remain steady on point production we should make it to the mid 30's by the end of the month. Excellent job considering we were ranked 193 less than a month ago. We have blown by our favorite competitors, [H] and the Dutch Power Cows. Wonder if they will even notice? I'm pretty sure the team over at Mind Modeling is thrilled with all the WU's getting done.

RHMash http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=proj&proj=min good job guys.... Anyone else have any issues with tasks hanging and never finishing?
They all hang at one point or another. In most cases its just a problem with what Boinc displays for percentage completed and it not updating. The tasks will hang like that for a while then presto they are done. 33% and 50% seem to be the favorite hang spots on my system. Go take a look at your Your Tasks page over at MM and look for Error's. If there are no error I would not worry about it. If there are errors its most likely the ACT-R tasks. Just opt out of running ACT-R's via the project preferences settings.

I'm talking about running for 12+ hours with no estimated time to completion. There are a few tasks from a few projects I always seem to have issues with.... Some, if I suspend and restart BOINC, it fixes the problem, essentially starting the task over from the last checkpoint, it leads me to believe they're having issues with checkpointing.... it isn't all of the tasks

Not really the screen saver but the project graphics for the current project running. I find some of the graphics for BOINC are strange as compared to ****, and cool. Note: **** = F A H not sure why the Forum is doing this. It is not like the F-Word.

Looking over today's numbers a few things stand out. We have moved up to 54 in the team ranks. We as a team pulled down 70,075 points today with Orange leading the pack producing 23,211 and Viper right behind him with 14,116. You two are burning things up by producing over half of the points out of the nine of us running MM. As things stand we are going to end up some where between 30 and 35 in the team ranks. Blows away my personal goal of getting the team to the top 50. Great trial run so far! We defiantly need to pick a vault project for the next Point Pillaging raid!

I vote Docking.... It's two-fold as it's in the vault (worth about 8 points a position) and we're not doing too terrible in it over at formula boinc.... http://formula-boinc.org/index.py?lang=en&team=101326&year=2014there's a few easy ranks to be gained there, but since we're already sub-50, we won't see much of a gain in rank for the amount of work required....

It's great fun and highly motivating to see, as a team, that we actually can make a difference. It also makes it special when people from MM tells us they highly appreciate and that they are most grateful for our efforts. WE ROCK

Docking would be a good choice... we need to move up a notch or two in Physical Science in the Vault... Docking... and Poem as well as a few others would be excellent choices.
