I need some help here please. My problem is I bought a gigabyte990FXA-UD5 rev 3 board. The first would not [amongst other things] get my Amd 9370 chip running at proper voltages or speeds after the latest bios update was installed. I RMAd the board and with the new one the chip was running at proper speeds. So the real issue with both boards was and still is that I have a GTX 770 evga card and both boards would not get past the first splash screen and then lock up. At first I tried everything other than the card. I replaced the cpu with older cpu from a working working system as well as the ram with known working ram. I tried another PSU. The PSU in the machine is a 1000 watt unit but nothing mattered. It would still lock at the splash. The very last thing I did and Im not sure why it took me so long other than I was getting vid on boot was to pull the Vid card and replace it with a gtx 480 as well as a 460 and a 570 card. All have worked and I have loaded windows 8 running those cards and thats how I found the first board would not run at proper speeds. I have seen there is a issue with compatibility with some 700 series cards and some mobos. I have contacted both evga and gigabyte and both point the finger at each other. I have had the gtx 770 working in 2 other computers so it not the card either its just the 2 together. It looks like I am left holding 2 things that wont work together so I am asking if anyone has a 770 gtx card working in this board and what manufacturer its made by. I have looked around the net and im not alone on this topic. I just would like to get a card I know will work as RMAS cost me 35 bucks each time. I bought this at newegg and should have bought local. Last time I make that error to save 25 dollars. thanks in advance for any help. Last thing is the 770 is running latest bios and I did the try the card in the other pci slots and lo and behold would post in the pci4x slot but what good is that?

    Hello,

Good afternoon. Do you have another system with a different motherboard to test this card in. This would help determine where the problem might reside?

Yes its been tested in two intel based boards and worked. I have another gigabyte based Amd board a GA-MA785GT-UD3H I will bench test it on today and see if it functions properly and reply. Thanks for you prompt response.

Not familiar with the Gigabyte BIOS, but do you have any setting for UEFI or Legacy boot?  If so, try switching to Legacy or non-UEFI BIOs.  Most likely you are experiencing a mobo BIOs and graphics card incompatibility, but since 700 series cards have been out for a while, I would think a proper mobo BIOs would be out there, but who knows....

Only runs in the 4x slot as well but when in the 16x slot knows enough to tell me to power down and plug in the power but then locks up. Perhaps I will try again on the intel system and see if it still works.

the GA-MA785GT-UD3H is a legacy bios and when the card is in the 16 times slot it locks. Will try again in the intel board and repost later.

motherboard is asus p8z77-v LE plus and boots and runs. The bios in that board is a UEFI bios and didn't have to adjust any settings for the system to boot. Took GTx480 out and replaced with Gtx 770 and system runs true. Any thoughts. I really don't want to go and get say a MSI 770 and have the same issue and if this is a gigabyte Bios issue should they not take it back! or fix the issue??

so another update and I hope the tech has a look. We took a gigabyte 770 windforce and put it the motherboard and away it went and booted to windows. We took the evga card and put it in the system that the windforce came from that was a MS 7641 ver 2.0 MSI board and it locked that system as well. Its a AMD based system as well with a Phenom 965 black with a anatec 850 PSU. The EVGA 770 still works in the ASUS intel based board though. I think at this point I should be offered a RMA on the EVGA 770 as it seems to be the root of the issue or it needs a BIOS update perhaps?

Submit an RMA.   Do you have it registered on here?   They aren't going to offer you one without you doing he RMA documents.

I've been looking throughout the net (not certainly looking for the answer your problem, as I've looked before noticed this post) but I've found out on few forums that certain AMD Gigabyte mobo's has problems with either the CPU itself or graphics cards. I suggest you get a refund, and get Asus/Evga/MSI motherboard.

    Board: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Edition
    BIOS: v1.9 Newest!
    CPU: Intel Core i5 4670 @ 3.8 With ITBoost
MEM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 4x4gb @1333mhz (1600 Stock)
VGA:   EVGA GTX 770 2GB GDDR5 SuperClocked ACX (BIOS #1. Up to date (2014))
    PSU:   Corsair CX750 Semi-Modular
System SSD: Samsung 120gb 840 @AHCI SATA III
Other HDD: Samsung 7.2kRPM 80GB SATA III, WD Caviar Black 1TB Sata III 7.2kRPM
    COOLER: Corsair H80i Push-Pull
OS: Windows 7 64bit Ultimate OEM

CPU runs 45*C on 100% load (Corsair H80i)
GPU runs 71*C on 100% load (stock EVGA cooler )
