You forgot to add that flashing your card to a BIOS other than what is provided by EVGA for the same model of video card will absolutely void the warranty of your video card. Here's another (long winded) guide on flashing: http://forums.evga.com...5&mpage=1&key=

what do you mean i've forgot to add that flashing your card to a BIOS?? and yes it probably does void the warranty if your card dies because of the flash but theres no harm in updating your card to a newer bios that was made for it, i updated my GTX280 from 62.00.0E.00.02 to 62.00.1C.00.80

Sometimes very slight tweaks are made to a BIOs to adjust for slightly different components. Even though the part numbers might be identical the BIOs numbers may differ for a technical reason so please NEVER flash your video card with another video card BIOs unless it is listed on the EVGA downloads portion of the EVGA website. If it is listed on the EVGA website then that video card BIOs has been properly tested by EVGA for all video cards listed for that part number.

OK, I understand what you have done but what I am saying to everyone is not to do this unless an EVGA technical rep advises you to do so.

The bios has to match the part number. That is the one thing they can test for. If it doesn't match no rma for you. loveordie i flashed mine with an original evga bios off a newer card I understand. But, there is a sticker on your video card which states what BIOS version it came to you with. If you RMA the card and they check your BIOS against the one on the sticker, they will tell you that the warranty is void and you will get nothing in return.

loveordie lol i dont think bios have a part numbers Yes, in a way they do. The software equivalent of a part number is a version. Stray_Bullet So you save the old bios & reflash it for RMA.... & reflash it for RMA.... Yes, you can do that. But that is immoral and illegal. Technically, the warranty is void if you flash the card to a BIOS version which was not supplied with the card initially or not provided by EVGA with specific instructions for its use.

Warranty dilemmas aside, backup, backup, backup! ALWAYS backup your original read. I have seen many attempt, fail and have a $500 brick because they did not backup. Most are usually because of a very uncommon card with non matching ID strings. Be very careful and disable any overclocking software before doing the flash.

the main reason people want to reflash their gfx card bios is to get faster speeds out of them.. so you void the warranty to do something precision of afterburner will do and wont void the warranty in the process? is it really THAT imprtant that the voiding your warranty to get the bios versions of your graphics cards to match if they didnt before if faster clock speeds isnt the goal? g/l to you if and when you brick your card cause guess what tech support will tell you youre SOL cause you just had to be a little twerp and went of and voided your warranty when you decided to modify the card w/o their say so.. and you can throw that 200+ bucks right in the toilet cause you basically just wiped your butt with it. trust me when i say.. DO NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY BY FLASHING YOUR GFX CARD BIOS.. if your card dies (i had one that did) they WILL NOT fix or replace it. if you want faster clock speeds use precision or afterburner.. its faster safer and guess what else.. it wont void your warranty.. why? cause EVGA promotes Precision on their site..

It is pointless. Different versions of the BIOS usually just have slightly different clock speeds or fan profiles. You can adjust both of those with RivaTuner or Afterburner without voiding your warranty. If you are going to void your warranty, do it the RIGHT way. For instance, I just hard volt modded one of my 285s last night. Don't void the warranty for stupid trivial reasons.

Well I have gtx 275. I clicked the tech power up linked that loveordie posted. All the BIOS for GTX 275 are the same, the one with like 713 core clock only has 1 difference from what i can tell, is the volt is 1.18 vs the other 3 with 1.17.. not sure if that type of overclock/BIOS changing is worth that. I'll keep my where it is at.
