Do you guys still love your keyboard? Would you recommend it as a need-to-buy item? My wife needs something to get me for Xmas and I still have yet to jump on to the mechanical keyboard bandwagon, and this is really the only one that interests me. Is it worth buying at full price?

I don't know if I can tell you what you want to hear but I will give you an honest opinion of my experience with my K70 keyboards. First, I would avoid the ones with Cherry MX 'red' switches. My first two failed within a month because certain keys began typing double characters or none at all. Beside that, the LED started burning out at an alarming rate. Keep in mind I prefered the silver face with blue backlighting while the owners with red backlighting seem to have no LED problems. The first RMA I had to re-apply after two weeks because they were out of stock. The second RMA there would have been a 30 day wait and Corsair upgraded me to a gunmetal model with blue backlighting and Cherry MX 'brown' switches. This keyboard still has all of its LED working but it did start acting up with the double character issue a few days past the 7 week mark. Then it just stopped and has been working like a champ for the last two days. I don't know what to make of all of this except maybe it's an issue with temperature change affecting the Cherry keyswitches. I was shopping for other mechanical switch gaming keyboards and it seems that regardless of manufacturer, all keyboards using the Cherry MX keyswitches have the same problems I am having. It doesn't matter if they are red, blue or brown switches. I'm glad this K70 started working again because I am reluctant to sit through another RMA process until they finally recognize this issue with Cherry MX keyswitches and announce a "New and improved Cherry MX-2" keyswitch. Anyway, here is my rant at Corsair forums:

I just wish I could find somewhere that sold them in a brick-n-mortar store so I could get a feel for the difference before I buy.  I'm reluctant to spend money on any of them when I don't know which color switch I prefer, or if I even think the difference is worth it.

Can somebody get BestBuy to jump on the mechanical keyboard bandwagon, please? lol

What I'm thinking I will do is pick up a K70 from Amazon after the holidays.  With their liberal return policy I can always send it back if I decide red (vs brown) isn't for me.

Have had my Cherry Red with zero issues for about 3 months now. I have no complaints, and compared to CoolerMaster keyboards it is quite good.

I had a Cooler Master Quickfire Pro that worked great for six months with the 'brown' keyswitches before it started locking up in BF3. It is a horrible feeling when your tank won't move and you are surrounded by the enemy and they all have RPGs. I was going to RMA but CM sent me an RMA replacement Spawn mouse that looked like someone used the sidewalk for a mousepad. The teflon pads were all worn down. Instead of risking getting an RMA keyboard that looked like it was in a train wreck I gave it to my sister and she loves it. She doesn't game at all. She is a secretary and it has never once missed or double typed a single letter. Go figure!

Well I appreciate the input. Based on the reviews thus far, I think I'll take my chances with one. If it ends up being problematic, at least I have my G110 as a backup.

There are a lot of happy K70 owners out there. It looks great and feels great and when it's working I love it. When it's acting up I regress into a grumpy old man. Right now I am loving this keyboard and it is truly a thing of beauty.

Mine has been working great since day one - Black w/ cherry red switches and red leds

Only issue I have had so far is I've worn thru the "W" & "S" keycaps....the special textured red ones that come in the bag seperate.  I chose to put them on for looks/ feel,  but not sure if that same problem would persist with the original ones that come on it >>

So overall ,  very happy with it.  Much better than the Razer Blackwidow ultimate KB I had before...

Mine K70 must wait for spring.
Now I must think to upgrade on Ti Classified and that is far more important than staying on this with K70.

Best Buy here where I'm at has the K70 and Logitech's G510 & 710 in stock and on the shelf. I was in there 2 days ago cause my G11 has been acting up, not sure which way I'm going but both boards looked and felt good.

Wow, really?  You're lucky, then.  Contrary to what you might expect, the limited floor space in nyc shops often leads to limited in-store supplies, as they only stock what sells the fastest and leave the rest for online orders only.  I've had no luck finding a shop in the nyc area that stocks any mechanical keyboard whatsoever (I don't so much need to see the K70 specifically, I just want to feel the difference between cherry red vs cherry brown to figure out which I prefer)

My last K70 RMA was in August. The new keyboard has been working great with only one minor issue. Once every few weeks the scroll lock light will flash for unknown reason. The only way to get it to stop is to move the bios switch back and forth.

    My experience with K70 Silver:
    1st K70 died within 2days
    2nd K70 two LED's burnt out after 2 months
3rd K70 been working fine since August

If you plan on using the K90/K95 keyboard software. Make sure it doesn't have any conflicts with the mouse software you use. I have seen some people complaining about it on Corsair forums.

I personally would grab a K70 with Brown switches iff they had it in the same anodized black aluminum as the Red switch version. I've handled the Red switch black faceplate version in person (as it happens, in a Best Buy), and the keyboard itself is set up really well, but the aesthetics of the silver faceplate bug me, and I'm not a fan of Red or Blue switches for different reasons, so I'm passing on the K70.

Right now I'm looking at the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth Edition, for Brown switches, LED backlit keys, etc. but as they're sold out at the moment, it seems my punishment for aesthetic pickiness is a 4-6 week wait (at least, according to their website).

I have a K70 with the gunmetal finish and Cherry MX brown switches. All LED still work but it did glitch out for a day or two by typing double-characters or none at all before returning to normal. It's been fine for a week now. I'd better keep my fingers crossed because the last time I said that everything went crazy when typing.

I've had my K70, blue LEDs with silver, with MX Red switches for almost seven months and it has been working fine for me. No burnt out LEDs, although occasionally my scroll lock light will flash, but like MSim says toggling the BIOS switch fixes that.

The Red switches are very sensitive and responsive, but I'm thinking the Blue switches might work better for me, as it's a more traditional feel, something like the old IBM keyboards or so I've read, but I've never tried one.

If you must have macro keys then the K90 or K95 is the way to go. I went with the K70 because I have a limited amount of desktop space. With a two year warranty, excellent build quality, great looks, it's a pretty sweet keyboard.

I have enjoyed the Corsair K95 Keyboard, the M65 Mouse, and the 1500 headphones.  All work together seamlessly.  After going and trying out all the keyboards I found the K95 exceeded my expectations and I have not run into any issues in the 6+ months that I have owned it.  Would recommend to all.

I went from a crappy 2005 keyboard to a used Razer Tarantula keyboard. Best decision I've ever made. Then I upgraded 2 years later from the Razer Tarantula to the Corsair K60. Best decision I  have ever made. Then I heard about the K70 and Upgraded to that and That still remains the best decision I have ever made. I feel embarrassed using my laptop's membrane keys after I used my K70 on my desktop for one hour before class lol
