Hey there,

Recently I have been hearing on this folding stuff and thought it would be a cool idea to get into. Just had some basic questions.
1) Do you just launch a program and it starts folding?
2) Do you need to be by your computer, or can you just start the program and let it do its thing?
3) In any specific hardware needed, or as long as you have a gpu are you good to go?

Thanks!

2 No you start , pause or finish with program and let it run.
3 From your specs you will do great.

Thanks guys! So I got it up and running, notice it is beating the heck out of my OC sc 780, but my CPU does not seem to be doing anything, is that something I missed, or is this program directly related to GPUs? I believe I have my passcode entered properly and the team as well, evga ftw!

Hmmm seems I cant post a picture...

You should be able to post pictures... you've reached the 50 post milestone.  Not sure anymore about how the Windows client works and uses CPU/GPU.  I do know it beats the heck out of GPU's and does often require the CPU to assist at times.

I'm sure someone will chime in soon to help you with your question.  Since I've gone 4P... I crunch now on my gaming rig when I'm not home.

Thanks for joining the team.  I look forward to seeing your rise in the ranks!

Thanks for the tip yodap! Looks like the CPU just took some time before it started running.

Last question before I go to bed, say if I was to power down my computer/stop folding, does it resume upon re-starting the program, or do you need to wait until it finishes?

Yes, it will pick up from where you powered down.  However you may lose points of your doing QRB (Quick Return Bonus) since it is a time sensitive work unit.  (Quicker completion = more points)

    Welcome to Team EVGA!

you'll want to get the client-type beta flag in place for that 780GTX.
With that flag you'll get work more suited for your video card and more PPD=points per day.
The beta work units also run cooler than the 8018 core 15 WU's=work units.
You'll need to open configure from the v7 client, pick the Slot tab then the GPU slot
be sure the GPU is marked before clicking add or double click the GPU slot.
then click add below and up will pop a smaller screen, top line client-type, next line beta as shown below.
Edit: fixed some errors in the post.
    Edit2:
Also to add to this you will want to free up 2 cores of the CPU slot to help the GPU fold.
Not sure how many cores+HT that CPU has, but lets say 8 cores with HT enabled.
do same as above but this time double click the CPU slot, under the SMP CPU you will see a -1
as stated assuming the CPU has 8 cores you'll want to replace the -1 with the number 6.
added picture to help i7-4770K has 8 so 6 would be correct if HT is enabled
Doing as I say here should put the GPU in the 100k PPD instead of the low 34k PPD its doing now on core 15.
