Well, the customer service at EVGA is great. I have this problem on crash on resume from standby. So I emailed Jacob and he sent me another motherboard. I opened it up to inspect the socket and see these:

Two pins appear off and from the side I see one sticking up.

Anyone else see this? I guess their QC needs some help.

Looks like it man!  I need to get a magnifying glass and a good light and examine mine. I thought i had seen something like that last time I swapped chips out......

I would contact EVGA about this before installing a CPU in the socket. Let them know that you inspected the socket after arrival and found the damaged pins.

Hopefully this can be resolved for you quickly.

I can repair something like that if the pins are only slightly bent but it requires very good micro tools. If however the pins are bent badly then it is very difficult.

That they would send out an obviously broken part as a replacement speaks of internal chaos. Evga is going to follow Abit. The smart support staff would leave now.

    Dear bwanaaa,

I can confirm that this is not normal as we do inspect all RMA products before shipping and while I can not explain how this occurred, I am very sorry to see that your replacement was damaged. I can confirm that a replacement is being sent to you with expedited shipping to assist and please do not hesitate to let me know if you should have any additional questions or concerns. chrisb@evga.com

    Dear bwanaaa,

I am very sorry to hear that you feel this way as I can assure you that this is not the case. I can confirm as I stated previously that we do inspect RMA replacements prior to shipping and while we are unable to say what caused this damage or when this damage occurred we are here to support you with having it replaced as soon as possible to assist.

EVGA customer support is one of the best out there and I'm sure EVGA will come through and solve this. Looks like Chris is on top of things for you.

    Lucky you, bwanaaa!

On my step-up, they *^%#$-ed up the CPU pins on my returned Classy, then charged me $80 to fix it, and also didn't return my complaint call to the RMA manager.

Hope your luck continues to hold.

    Dear TheSidewinder,

I am very sorry for any confusion as I can confirm that if a product is returned to EVGA with bent CPU pins we do make every effort to fix the product without replacing the socket, but if the pins cannot be simply bent back into place without an issue we do request that the physical damage caused to the board prior to EVGA receiving it is covered by the customer. I am showing that we unfortunately received your product with bent CPU socket pins and in a effort to work with you we assisted with a repair option to avoid your warranty being unavailable due to physical damage.

I am also very sorry for any confusion as I can confirm that I am not able to find any request to speak to the RMA Manager, but in a effort to assist further, I will have a call to you so that we can speak with you further on your RMA.

Please let me know if you should have any additional questions or concerns. chrisb@evga.com

I give credit where it's due, so thank you Jayson/Jason for the call just now.
While this wasn't resolved to my complete satisfaction, EVGA did give me an account credit for half the repair fee. As it's been so long since this occurred, under the circumstances I have to say what they did must be called "fair" at least.

I like the way that EVGA tries to take care of the consumer. For example the expedited shipping of replacement. That I think is top notch. Hopefully you both have better experiences in the future with EVGA!
