Ok guys I'm having a problem here, and that is I can't get any program/software to run my cpu at 100% load at the clock speed that I set my 2600K at. I used 8 threads for all the programs I tested, cpu temp is only loading around 62c across the cores on my new cpu cooler so its not throttling due to temp. Right now I currently have the multiplyer set to 42 (4.2Ghz) in the bios for my 2600K, I can't disable turbo cause its required on evga boards for overclocking.

Prime 95 won't go higher then 3.7Ghz

folding @ home won't go higher then 4.1Ghz

any suggestions how to fix this? I'm trying to figure out whats causing the cpu to throttle down, I need the clock speed to be at full 100% load so I can test and make sure cpu is stable at each cpu clock speed I test as I bump the multiplyer and tweak the voltage as needed.

Also note that his short and long duration power limits are locked on AUTO and he cant change them. If Nite can adjust those settings it should fix the throttling. I'm not familiar with the newer i7 boards but I am sure that is what is causing the throttling. So if anyone knows how he can adjust those settings please post. There must be something in the bios that will enable those settings to be adjusted.

Yea OC and I talked about this for a while in steam chat, I can't adjust the long and short term power settings at all, they are locked to auto. The +/- keys are not working on those options.

someone on overclock.net forum said the same thing as well that this was my problem of why I had thottle in specific programs.

Also, I folowed Jacobs overclocking guide too and no luck it still thottles, cpuz doesn't show just the multiplyer I set in the bios, it still shows between 16 - 42 even with all the power save stuff disabled so EIST or something must be screwed up on the latest bios too.... I'm on R22

Just a couple shots in the dark here...do you have "EVGA Eleet Ratio Control" enabled?  Do you have "Limit CPUID Maximum" disabled?

    "Limit CPUID Maximum" disabled?
Should this be disabled under Windows 7, for OC or for that matter for Folding?

From my understanding of it, yes.  Disabled should yield the best CPU performance.  I've used Win7 on 3 platforms now, X58, Z68, X79.  All with that setting disabled.  No problems with any of my OC'ing.

I have multiplier set to manual, not using eleet (no way will I let windows software control my cpu overclock), and yes limit cpu id maximum is disabled.
